Breakin’ the law, breakin’ the law*
* ignoring certain guidelines due to circumstances
Since mid-June, my commute’s been disrupted by the MAX Red Line being closed between Gateway Transit Center and PDX. Come October it’ll reopen, with (finally!) two tracks all along that part of the route, but until then, TriMet is using shuttle buses on that stretch. It makes the most sense, schedule-wise, for me to take the 72 bus to the 82nd Ave. MAX station, ride one stop to Gateway, then get a shuttle bus to work. Each train has priority seating near each set of train entrance doors for seniors and people with disabilities. I am neither, but lately these seats have been open when I board, and no one else is using them at the moment and I’m only going to ride for one stop…so I let myself sit there.
Feels like I’m getting away with something.
I will go back to letting the priority seating being used by people who need it when I’m on regular-running MAX trains again.
