After reading this article, the following joke seems relevant:
The scientists all got together and had a convention. At this convention, they decided that they no longer needed God. So they elected one of their members to tell God this. God, being the gracious God that He is, received the delegate. The delegate looked at God, and he said, "God, all of us scientists have gotten together and decided that we've made so much progress that we don't need you any more. We can manipulate the very genes of life, travel among the stars, bring the dead back to life, and so much more." God looked at him and said, "OK. Before I go away forever, how about if we have one last little contest. Let's make a man, just like I did in the beginning with Adam." The scientist replied, "You're on!" and bent down, scooped up a handful of clay, and began to form it. God snapped His fingers and the scientist found himself with God in the middle of a formless void - with no dirt in his hands. God looked at him and said, "Nope, sorry, you have to make your own dirt."
