Alright, alright, see - it's a new post...

At the urging of ariellejuliana I'm giving another update.

Let's see, my last update was after the last good day I've had in lab in the past couple months. This was spent working on, for the sake of simplicity, "Plan B." The rest of that week went on to show me how miserably "Plan A" had failed. Last week then consisted of discarding Plan A, elevating Plan B to Plan A status, preparing a presentation for lab meeting informing the rest of my lab of this development, and then desperately scrounging for a Plan C to elevate to Plan B status (given that Plan B was now Plan A). So that's how lab has been lately. Slow, especially given that Plan A now means producing baculovirus with my adjusted plasmid in it (this translates to "work for 5 minutes, then wait overnight, then work for 5 minutes, then wait overnight"). But at least this Plan A seems to be working, giving some positive feedback, as opposed to the previous Plan A.

Otherwise, I suppose this summer I've mainly been reading scientific articles, Dostoevsky, and Lawhead, working on songs with Shahir and Stephanie (a LOT of fun), and taking East and West Coast Swing classes. A lot of fun.

This is a pretty basic update right now. I guess I'm not feeling terribly introspective, and/or the things I am "introspecting" on are not quite communicable/shareable. Anyway, such is life.

Oh, that said, it is really good to have Andrew LaCroix in town. I'd forgotten just how much I missed the Jays for Christ people. We're kinda like bootcamp buddies. We have a common training ground and a common sensitivity towards common enemies that I don't think those from outside Creighton are quite so aware of. It's like Jeremy Quigley once said to me: "You know, since leaving Creighton, I realized that at Jays for Christ there was a community that I'd never experienced before, and have not experienced since." [I'm not sure that he used "since" twice in the quote, but this is in the CCP - Chris Capp Paraphrase] Anyway, it was a blessing to be a part of, and a blessing to have a little bit of it back again.

Alright, I need to get back to work (by "work" I mean "waiting").

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
