1.9 and rising

I actually am working. Really.

Prepping to fly out to Toronto sometime around the 23rd and start filming Kinsey has me doing extra research on sexual matters. Which is frustrating nice, in a way, considering it's been a while it's a subject I've got a lot of interest in lately.

Some fascinating factoids:

For those who don't know, Kinsey and his sex research team developed a scale (from 1 to 6) which helps identify sexual preference among men. Presumably the same scale could be used for women, but the following statistics are strictly male.

4 - 6% of men were rated as "6" (exclusively homosexual)

10 % of men were rated 4, 5, or 6 (predominantly to exclusively homosexual, lower numbers leaning to incidental heterosexuality)

18% of men were rated as 3, 4, 5, or 6 (bisexual to exclusively homosexual)

37% of all men experienced orgasm in a sexual activity with another man at some time in their life.

60% of all men had some type of homosexual relationship before they were age 16.

30% of all men had some type of homosexual relationship between age 20 - 24.

Research was conducted primarily with white college educated, volunteer subjects and with prisoners. This research did not clearly parcel out behaviors which did not persit from adolesence into adult life.

For those who have never seen it, I highly recommend looking up the scale and taking a glance at it. It really makes you reconsider the "cut-and-dryness" or human sexuality. Of course, just talking with some of my friends lately has done the same. Homos, all of them.

So, on to the part where I update you on my social life. I have one, which is definitely a good thing, and exactly when I needed it.

Matt and I "did lunch", which is to say he listened to me whine a bit about my marriage, offered a pat on the shoulder at the requesite times, and answered my questions about he and Colin, often with a little too much graphic detail I loved every minute of it. Despite being a bitch, he's really a great person sometimes.

Sandy and I shared our special places with each other. I narrowly missed her toe and her back got a little wet. I hope we do it again.

I've been having entertaining conversations with this really great guy. He's told me that there's a possibility he'll come to Toronto and help me do research for my movie in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to it. What else is there to do in Toronto?

My wife has a date tonight with a man she works with. Lily, Chris Jr., and I will make some cookies and watch Harry Potter or something. I thought it would bother me more than it does. It's a slow burn. Almost a light simmer instead of a raging inferno. It could be because I have a date this weekend as well.

Oh, and it might also be that Drew Barrymore admitted last night that I "was the hottest co-star she'd never slept with". Bit of a mixed blessing, that.

EDIT: Actually, the phrase was "never fucked" but who's counting?
