Tamora Carter: Goblin Queen by Jim C. Hines

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've been a fan of Jim C. Hines since his first novel Goblin Quest came out in 2006, so when I saw he was doing a Kickstarter for another Goblin novel, I signed up. I was not disappointed.

Tamora Carter: Goblin Queen is billed as a middle-grade novel. I am many decades past middle grade, but I found the novel enjoyable anyway. Set in modern times, it opens with 12-year-old Tamora Carter at roller derby practice. Three of her friends in this unspecified Michigan town have gone missing, and she's understandably upset about it.

Then, when she's leaving practice, she encounters a pair of goblins. If you've read Jim's other works, the goblins are immediately recognizable. If not, don't worry about it - everything you need to know is in this book. It's a short novel - I finished it in a couple of hours - but full of action.
