are you assuming that she has good judgement?mimesisFebruary 7 2005, 16:30:29 UTC
given that she WAS pulling her skirt down every 5 steps, you could have also assumed that she wasn't comfortable with how she looked, and given her some peace.
then why did she even wear the thing? great question. she should ask her therapist about why she oversexualizes herself in public. i'd be willing to bet she was college-age: a population that seems particularly willing to use "sexy" as a substitute for "power". she's silly, not hypocritical.
and "reacting in a positive way" is...well. "positive" is only one facet. "aggressively positive" might be a good qualifier. it IS her personal space you invaded with an unsolicited comment.
but hell, i'm just speaking as a woman who, in her early twenties, was harrassed on the street by strange men no matter WHAT i wore - frumpy clothing made no difference. nor did dirty looks. ("aw baby, don't look so sad, i'll marry you." "psst. hey. psst." the man pressing his hard-on into my butt on a sardine can crowded subway car. you need more examples?) now i'm old enough i'm left alone for the most part, and all i can say is Thank God.
