Cry God for England, Harry and St George!
Had my first day of school placement today. Given that my sole source of information about the state of education in Britain for the past 15 years or so has been via the lens of the media this step was taken with some trepidation. Happily what I saw today, excellent school, engaged teachers, polite keen students has left me feeling pretty optimistic about both a career in teaching and the country in general. The Daily Express decided to celebrate our National Day with the headline 'They've Ruined Britain' certainly from what I saw today they haven't yet, not completly anyway. Tonight I'm off to Simpson's in the Strand to celebrate this happy discovery with roast beef and ale. Happy St George's Day!
