Ceremony!

Feb 19, 2008 16:47

They'd taken the opportunity to sleep-in somewhat, only rousing for a moment to let Hal out before slipping under the covers for a few more hours, though only some of that time was actually spent sleeping. Finally, after Chris had gotten tired of the sound of his own stomach rumbling, they'd dragged themselves out and got dressed, Lennox ( Read more... )

Even though they were already married, Lennox had to admit that having the ceremony kind of felt like they were married again. He didn't want to say 'married for real' 'cause they'd definitely been married since they'd decided to do it the first time.

Still, the ceremony was pretty great, even if it hadn't been the most traditional ceremony that they could've had. There'd been vows and an exchange of a ring and now there was food, which Lennox was making a beeline for right this moment.

"Hey," Chris said, sneaking up behind Lennox after he'd spent some time talking to other people, arms wrapping around him as he rested his chin on Lennox's shoulder. There weren't any drinks or food, no gift table or anything like that, just a collection of their closest friends and Chris honestly couldn't think of a better way they could've done it. Even if was a little bit unorthodox.

"So, I guess this is it," he said, turning his head to press a light kiss to Lennox's neck. "Now Eddie can't be irritated with us anymore."

"No way. Emmy was a flower girl, just like we wanted, it was pretty fucking great," Lennox said cheerfully in agreement, his arms wrapping around Chris's as he leaned back against him. It wasn't anything new, being married or touching Chris like this, but it was different in a way. He could feel the weight of Peggy's ring resting against his chest, just under his shirt and that was certainly different.

Giving a low chuckle, Chris nodded, his arms tightening around Lennox for just a moment as he watched their small group of friends intermingle with each other.

"Was pretty perfect," he murmured quietly after a moment, rocking Lennox very slowly and very gently in his arms, like they were swaying to a song that only they could hear. "Even if my arm still hurts like a sonofabitch."

With a laugh, Lennox tilted his head back a little, resting it on Chris's shoulder, not really giving a fuck how gay they probably looked at that moment. "Well, that's what you get when you get your friend to press hot metal into your skin, man. Pain and blisters and scarring and more pain." Not that he minded, he thought he'd made that pretty clear by this point.

"You forgot that part about the pain," Chris remarked with a grin, a low chuckle working its way past his lips before he let out a quiet breath and fell silent for a moment.

It was nice like this, just the perfect sort of moment. Somewhere along the line, this place had become home and even if he still woke up every morning afraid that it might be his last day on it and even more afraid that it might be Lennox's last day on it, he was also grateful. This place gave them both a chance Chris was positive they wouldn't have had back in Long Bay.

"I love you," he said quietly and casually, his eyes still focused up ahead on where Emmy was crouching next to Hal, still sharing the petals.

"Oh, shit, I thought I'd mentioned the pain," Lennox laughed, still leaning back against Chris, his eyes closed, his head on his shoulder. It was comfortable like this. More comfortable than he'd ever been anywhere else.

"I love you," he answered a moment later, feeling pretty damn content. "Aren't we supposed to be partying or something, though? Like, dancing to music and getting shit faced and throwing food and stuff?" He was mostly teasing, though, because there was something perfectly nice about this.

"Might help if we actually had food to throw," Chris pointed out, though he didn't really sound upset in the least. "Maybe we can find some alcohol later. For the honeymoon, you know."

He nodded forward, at where Emmy was still crouched next to Hal. "Or, if you're really hungry, I bet Em would offer you some flower petals."

"Do we get another honeymoon?" Lennox asked curiously, grinning at the thought of that. They could probably take another couple of days off the building crew, he doubted anyone would really mind all that much. "And I don't wanna eat flower petals, man. The dog is eating her share of them anyway, I wouldn't wanna take any of those away from her."

"Don't see why not," Chris replied, though he hadn't really thought about it much and, chuckling, rested his chin on Lennox's shoulder again. Another honeymoon would be nice, but not necessary, he didn't think. And it wasn't like they really had any place to go.

"Mostly I just want a few days off to test out the couch and the love seat and the bed and all the new rooms," Lennox teased, a soft smile curving his mouth as he thought about it. "Again." They'd obviously done their fair share of testing already, but he figured there was nothing wrong with being completely thorough.

"What, like another tour?" Chris asked, lips curled into a smirk as he gave a quiet laugh. "We could probably do all that in less than a day. Maybe we'll have to branch out, get a little more adventurous..."

"Don't tempt me, Chris Cutter. Not unless you're gonna come through and actually branch out with me. Get a little more adventurous," Lennox teased with a laugh, relaxing against Chris's chest. "If you say that shit, you know I'm gonna want it." And he did already. Chris was toast.

"Hey, maybe I'm being completely serious," Chris remarked, voice low and amused as he held Lennox tighter, head turning to brush a kiss along the curve of his jaw. "We should figure out a way to lock the rink," he said, sounding a bit more mischievous. "Lot of places in there we haven't tried yet."

"We could just barricade the door for a day," Lennox suggested as he grinned, his eyes closing once more at the feel of Chris's mouth moving along his jaw. "Put a chair or something under the doorknob so that no one can get inside." He imagined if they put up a 'do not disturb' sign, that might be enough.

"Yeah," Chris agreed, suddenly putting much more serious thought into the idea than he had before. "That'd probably be easy enough. And then..." his voice drifted into a warm groan as he hugged Lennox tighter again, lips brushing his ear, "and then we can fuck in the center of the ice."

Granted, they'd have to bring blankets and they wouldn't want to be too messy, but it could be fun.
