Amy's name had been on the wall for weeks, but neither he nor Lennox had been able to handle trying to see it at first. And then the tsunami and dinosaurs had happened and Lennox's leg, but when Lennox had mentioned wanting to get out of the Compound and the doctor had assured Chris that it'd be good for him, they'd somehow ended up on the path to the Memorial without even thinking.
It'd always kind of been like that, Chris knew. Even back in Long Bay. They just did things together without even having to think about it, like they were on the same wavelength or something. It came in handy on the rink and on the building crew. Other times, it was just kind of creepy.
This time was leaning more toward the creepy end, but Chris was also oddly grateful for it. He'd wanted to go, wanted to see her name on the wall and know that she'd never be forgotten here, but he hadn't wanted to go without Lennox and he'd never been able to ask on his own.
"It's been awhile since I've been here," he said as they approached, his voice quiet and sort of hoarse from lack of talking on the way up.
