At Stacylee's funeral. We will see how this goes.
.....
It was sad but it didn't impact me as much as I thought it might. The funeral was held at an LDS Church so there was quite a lot of LDS dogma and quotes floated by the various speakers. Being one degree removed from both Stacylee and their religion it was interesting to see how the speakers leaned on theirbelief that they would all meet again and that Stacylee would be awaiting them. I completely understand that - it's just been quite a while since I've been to a religious funeral service that it seemed odd.
I'm not very religious from an organized religion perspective though I tend to believe in "something" whether that equates to a universal energy force or whatever I tend to doubt the existence of an all powerful diety that pays a whole lot of attention to what we do on the day to day. I use to consider myself more of a budhist than anything but I guess in general I'm agnostic with a spiritual leaning.
The grave site service was a bit more impactful.
Visiting with my college friends many of whom I haven't seen in 25 years was nice - to a degree. An awful lot of conservatism going on there. Though nobody offered opinions on LGBTQ issues I think a few held fairly right wing views that they dared not share in my company.
.....
So I sit here in Midtown contemplating the evening. more in a friends only post.
