Lots to write about, I'll start with the most exciting stuff first.
A little under 2 hours ago, I picked up a paper that instantly changed my life. It's the Sport Management curriculum for Catalog Year 2004. I immediately noticed that Anatomy and Physiology were no longer tracking courses and were barely mentioned as a recommended course. I had to take a 2nd and 3rd look to make sure my eyes weren't lying. I found this to be quite stunning. Suddenly, the past year of my life was explained. I went from possibly considering a change of majors to being able to remain in my current major, which has recently been much-improved. As a new student to the major a year ago, I quickly realized I was taking classes that didn't seem necessary for my major (Anatomy & Physiology). Unforunately for me, my college just now realized this. To add icing to the cake, the lady there informed me that this revised curriculum also came about because the program recently became its own major. Before, it was technically an Exercise & Sport Science major with a specialization in Sport Management. The heads of the program applied to make it a major by itself, and it got approved. It all starts with the 2004 Catalog year, though, so all prior catalog years will still get a degree in ESS with the specialization in Sport Management. To summarize, I walked right into a win-win situation. I'm ecstatic. I've been given a 2nd chance that I really didn't deserve.
In other news, I moved into my prison cell dorm room. It's small. I have the furniture arranged as best as I could think of to maximize space and I can still reach just about everything in my room from my bed. At least my single last year had some walking room. Walking in this room consists of awkward and evasive steps. In more interesting news, the suite below us and to the left is occupied by football players Kenneth Tookes, Jarvis Herring, Steven Harris, & Taurean Charles. The last 2 have criminal charges against them, Taurean being the most recent (he threw a half-full keg at some poor sap at a frat party; luckily, he missed, otherwise he'd be facing possible murder charges).
I bought two things today that Jon Banke deserves at least partial credit for: Reef sandals and jersey sheets. My current pairs of sandals have seen their final days. The velcro on the adidas sandals keeps separating when it comes in contact with water, and the rubber soles on the cheap Walmart sandals I have are breaking apart. I've heard nothing but good things about Reef. I plan on wearing them around campus, to classes, everywhere. As for the jersey sheets, I don't know why all the sheet companies out there don't make more of their sheets with the same or similar material. They feel better than a lot of the more expensive sheets out there. So soft. They're great.
Ooooh that's ironic, the Beach Boys' Surfing USA just came on in my playlist, and it reminded me to write about the movie, Riding Giants, which I just saw last night. It was very cool, I recommend it even if you're not into surfing.
