Arash (a2pak7) and I were off on a journey to a town called Dunedin. The purpose of this mission was clear. Waiting for us 153 miles away was a maroon 1987 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 for sale that sounded too good to be true. Less than 85,000 miles on the odometer, new battery, new brakes, and a new clutch. No dents. A "nice unmolested car", and for a good price. We took I-75 south and got to the exit in about an hour and 25 minutes. The next hour or so was spent taking country roads west to the Gulf of Mexico. We finally got to the house at around 1 PM, but nobody was home. I called Gary (the seller) and he said he was about 5 miles from the house and was headed over. In the meantime, we checked the car out. It had a few blemishes on the outside, but the interior was in very good shape. 30 minutes later (5 miles??), Gary got there. After asking some questions, we took a test drive. Arash did the driving, since he has far more experience driving a 5-speed. Gary led us on a nice little drive across Causeway Blvd (which reminded me of Key Biscayne) to "Honeymoon Island". After the test drive, Arash and I spoke in private. We both agreed that the car drove very nicely, once it gets warmed up. At this point I decided I would buy it. After some negotiating with Gary, I got him to lower the price a little bit, wrote him a check, signed a few papers, and the car was mine. It was around 3:45 PM or so, and we took off back toward Gainesville. The Mustang needed gas, so we stopped at a gas station and I filled it up. The drive home was pretty smooth until we got to Ocala, when it started raining. My Mustang now sits in an undisclosed location in Gainesville.

Big thanks to a2pak7 for taking the trip and bringing the Stang back to Gainesville.
