There were times when Lindsay Monroe would just stare out of her apartment and over the small bit of New York skyline and would have to pinch herself. A country girl from Montana, and she was standing in the greatest city she’d ever seen. It was loud, parts dirty and gritty, but glamorous and shinny too. People were harsh, but there was a tenderness to most that reminded her of those she left.
Far from wheat fields, the skyline of Manhattan was something else. She spent her first weeks juggling her new job and walking around taking pictures to send back home. New York was a place where people simply visited for a while and came home, not stayed and worked with dead people.
But Lindsay had always seen things a bit differently. And as she crossed the police tape, she couldn’t help but smile. Death looked the same anywhere… she just got to the jungle to experience it more than the wheat fields.
