And into the 20th century
So this weekend I bought an iPhone. Say what you will about Apple's monopolistic qualities or the overhype that the iPhone has gotten. I love this thing. I mean seriously. Who needs a man when you've got the internet at your fingertips, anywhere, anytime? 3G, baby, and 16 gigs. That's just plain sexy.

When you plug an Apple periphery into iTunes, it asks you what you want to name the device. While most people name their cars or boats after women, I noticed that all of my electronics have been given male nominations based in Greek mythology. My hard drives usually go by Chiron, the centaur who was known as a teacher, tutor, and oracle. My last iPod was named Hermes, because it was responsible for shuttling songs between home and work. So when iTunes asked me the name of my new iPhone, I decided on Coeus, the Titan of Intelligence.
It makes sense, I guess, to me. After all, I now have access to whatever internet I need whenever and whyever I need it. The UI is intuitive and the apps are plentiful. I am in love, finally and truly...with a piece of machinery. But given my dating history, maybe that's for the best. :)
