It's September! September is by far my favorite month of the year; I love that it's still warm but doesn't feel like summer (even when it's still legitimately hot), and I love that it's a time of so many transitions (generally positive ones, at that). This is the first time in 22 years that I haven't been starting school in late August/early September; that hasn't sunken in since I'm still starting a huge new endeavor tomorrow (that, of course, being work), but it's nevertheless already made this September somewhat notable.
I've had a good week since I last updated; it was one of those largely unmemorable weeks in which I'm not exactly sure how I passed the time but somehow came up with things to do. I went out for drinks with Lisa's friend Kari one night, which was a lot of fun; we have a lot of common, and I hope that I'll get to know her better. I also went out with Mandy & Nathan to another one of Murzik's shows; this one was notable for having an intermission in which the bar's house burlesque group (yeah, I don't know) performed a 3D strip tease that involved handing out 3D glasses to everyone in the room and stripping behind a huge sheet. Strangely enough, the 3D glasses were from the JMU physics department (Jeff, I thought of you!); I think we were supposed to give them back at the end, but I stole mine for the bizarre Virginia connection and now have them on display in my apartment. I also fell in love with the vodka collins that night, which I'm relatively sure that I've never had before - it's a dangerous drink that became even more dangerous at this bar's $2.50 pricetag. Thankfully, I was driving, so I kept it together.
I found out this week that Ben's coming to visit me sooner than I thought; he'll be here in less than 3 weeks, which is much better than October. I'm trying to come up with a fabulous Minneapolis weekend; I wanted to include a Twins game, but they're naturally out of town that weekend. Oh well. Man Man is playing a show in town that Saturday night, so that could be an option.
Off to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota weather...
