This whole "work in West Hollywood and live by LAX" thing isn't terribly convenient :P . Commute on the motorcycle is fraught with danger (I was almost killed by inattentive drivers to and from work yesterday, which prompted this post), and commute by car isn't terribly speedy (as evidenced by having to wait in line for stoplights, turns, etc.).
There is potential time savings when using a car, mostly by not going from See Luan's place to my place to get/drop off the motorcycle (I can go straight from her place), which saves ~15 minutes in the morning and in the evening (or 5-10 if I stay at my place the night before).
On the upside, driving in today only took 40 minutes (compared to 20-25 on the motorcycle), which puts me at 0-5 minutes slower than the motorcycle, and is orders of magnitude safer. If there is an accident, construction, etc., then I will be delayed (on a motorcycle I would not be), but the delay is still better than the risk involved in running into the back of a car that decided to not pay attention to his side-views before switching lanes (the no-look thing happened twice yesterday, which prompted some emergency slowing/stopping).
Safety first.
