As seiryu_16 said, we are back. In the coming week, expect some pictures from the trip.
I somehow managed to catch up on livejournal posts, webcomics and news sites that I visit after getting home yesterday. I still have 500+ python-dev list emails to read, but that will be done in due time.
We may have found a car to purchase; here's hoping the guy hasn't moved out yet.
During vacation I managed to work on PyPE 2.x, namely implementing some plugins for what I (and others) have wanted for a while. Via the plugin system, at least a part of PyPE is easily user-extensible. Yay!
I also managed to do some implementation work on a bit of research I've been butting my head against (the research, not the implementation). With the algorithm I have, it is easy to prove the first few necessary steps, though the last step is a bit harder and is not obvious. We'll see what my advisor thinks later this afternoon as to whether we can prove the last bit or whether we need a different approach.
