HEARTS. IN MY EYES (AKA DAVID ROLAND COOK IS AMAZING, PART 1)

Oct 03, 2009 10:31

Okay, so this is just a sneak peek. Haha. I will upload all of my pictures to my Facebook this week (along with those from tonight and, yes, the Jonas Brothers pics I never got around uploading).

But.

Last night was amazing. awdrouch and I got there around 6:30, which was when the doors were supposed to open, and we were freaking out because the line was hella long. When we got inside though... most people were sitting down, so we managed to make it quite close to the stage. :D :D :D We also got to meet up with daniecallahanx, which was really cool! (Hi,BTW. It was really nice meeting you!)

I'd heard of Ryan Star before, but I'd never got around to listening to his music. HOLY CRAP. The man is completely nuts. And amazing. I loved his set. (Plus, he's really hot. Haha.)

And then... Began one of the most amazing nights of my life. I'm most likely going to write up a huge review with lots of pics after this weekend, but to make a long story short - David Cook's show is the best I've attended so far. I know I've said that for pretty much every show I've been to, but this time it's the absolute truth. Not only is he an amazing performer live, but he connects so much with the audience, and banters with them, and it just all makes an really great atmosphere, you know? He took the acoustic road for a few of his songs, which was simply amazing, especially when he shushed the crowd before the chorus to Lie and basically sang the next part of the song a capella... It was completely crazy, how everyone just kind of quieted down to listen to him sing with no mic and no instruments. One of the most powerful moments of the night. There was also this part where he made the audience since most of Come Back To Me... it's one of my favorite songs and it was just really, really cool to see him up on the stage holding the mic up towards us, and to hear an entire crowd belt out the lyrics. This is really the kind of show I'd see over and over and over again. (Hell, I think I'd put my life on hold and just follow him around - in a completely non stalkerish way - to attend all of his shows and get to listen to him sing night after night, if I could.) You just get lost in the music... Seriously, most of the time I just wanted to just stand there and listen. No singing along, no screaming... Just listening. (Of course, I didn't, and I might have screamed "I love you!" a bunch of times. :P)

And then we hung out around the buses after the show, and he. came. out.

Well, first there was Jeremy, who's filling in for Kyle (the drummer for non-Cook peeps reading this) this weekend. He went straight to the bus first, but came back out after a while to sign autographs and take pictures. And Monty (bassist) came out a while after, went straight to the bus without even looking at us (some people called him "rude" to his face, which, come on people, you just DON'T do. Entitlement? It's not sexy. And it's really not the way to go if you actually want him to come out and see you), but came over to us a bit after, signed autographs, and actually stayed to chat with us for a while.

And then. David. I really wish I had pictures from that, but unfortunately I was near the front and busy getting squished by people. awdrouch has some pretties, though. And possibly daniecallahanx too? I don't know. Anyway, David didn't have much time to sign, and he didn't have time for pictures, but he did take the time to sign whatever he could reach, and talk a little with us. When he left, awdrouch actually called out to him, "Come out after the show tomorrow!" and he turned back, smiled at us, and said he'd try. (I really hope he does.) He was so nice, and funny, and oh my God, the man is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S up close. (Not that he isn't from afar, but it's just... whoa when he's standing two feet away from you.)

And then... lol that's a funny part... when the three of us were walking back to the metro/bus station, the tourbus drove by us and kind of started flailing on the sidewalk. (I hope no one was looking out the window/recognized us from the barricades.) And awdrouch actually took pics - yes, I'm calling you out on it! Haha, kidding, you're amazing.

Still. Have a couple pics for now.

So tonight is the Ottawa show. awdrouch, cyntika224 and I are leaving the South Shore around 2:30 this afternoon, and hopefully we'll make it to Ottawa with no trouble. (We have a GPS, should be useful.) :D I absolutely can't wait!
