aw ^^b poor piano. i haven't had my piano tuned for two years at least, and it sounds fine. probably cause i'm tone deaf, but meh. I know how you feel though. I'd be pretty sad without my piano too. There will probably be access to pianos/keyboards though, in university. Just depends whether you can find the right time i.e. when no one else is there.

btw, you have any good sheet music that i could try out? I haven't gotten anything new in ... a long time, so yea XP

My piano has very loose strings, so it changes pitch rather quickly... I guess age and migration can do that to ya.
Yours may not be off by much (tone deaf? ha!), but maybe you should get it tuned too. "At least once a year," says my piano tuner. Though he might just be trying to get more money. ^^;

Didn't Ms. Koot mention in class that she couldn't get many chances at the pianos in university because music students kept hogging them? =( We might have to get up at midnight just to play piano for a bit... ^^;

Sheet music? Sure! I've got a MASSIVE collection I downloaded from pianosheets.org XD Anime, movie, classical, other (for the lack of a better category) -- you name it. Just tell me what you'd like and I'll send you some. ^^

In a way, your piano tuner is kinda right I guess. The change from winter to summer can have quite a big effect on your piano where the indoor temperature can rise several degrees and the humidity going from very dry to humid. And make sure you close the blinds during the summer, or you'll bake the piano..lol.

A family friend had a similar experience when studying for her ARCT examination. Everyone had to take turns with the pianos at the RCM. That must suck..lol. Why don't you get like a upright piano for a few thousand dollars or maybe one of those electronic ones if you so happen to study out of Toronto and live in residence? Maybe you can teach piano lessons in your residence with your upright piano..depending on where you live..lol.
