On the Other Side of the Fence

Lately, I've been feeling kind of restless. It's a feeling similar to restless leg syndrome, only it's not my leg, but my mind, or maybe my whole body, that has the urge to move around and do something other than this day to day routine that i've fallen into upon coming back home.

Not that I don't still love it here, because I do. No matter how much of an isolated cage this island is starting to become in my eyes, It will forever be my home, my roots, my starting grounds. But right now, I want to leave it behind for a while and go somewhere far away. Perhaps even longer than just a while.

I want to see and experience things for myself. Though I've turned 18 half a year ago, I don't feel like an adult at all. Maybe the reason why people always mistake my age for my appearance is because I need to grow up before they stop treating me like a kid. Maybe my mental age is still stuck at an age much younger than my body is, and they can somehow sense that with their adult-sensors, or something.

I'm glad that I decided to choose a different place to go to school for the year; I hope that maybe in my time away I'll grow up a little and be able to become the kind of person that others can rely on, rather than stay the one that always relies on them.

I finished The Time Traveller and found it entertaining, especially the ending. The author wrapped up the story very well. I especially liked how the story was written in the form of a person telling the story told to them by another character. (This is also happening in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, which, as I mentioned before, is also about time travel.)

Now onto the other 20 or so books that I want to finish reading this summer. I love having the free time to read; I'll miss it when classes start up again.

Oh, and my current music favorite is Tegomasu's newest album. Those two sure can sing, and their music is always pleasant, at least to my ears. And speaking of music, I feel like practicing my flute again today. Maybe after I get back from taking more passport pictures for the Japanese consulate, I'll do just that.
