Its a ME

Just an FYI: I am still "technically" alive.

Been a long and interesting summer. I have lots I could talk about, but I will hit the most interesting/painful thing first.

I "had" a job working at the local restaurant on the island, Northwoods. A great place. Not only was it wonderful working there, but I knew almost every one already, my family is great friends with the owners, yea...Had a BLAST. I worked as a cook/dish washer. Cooked Mondays and Thursdays, washed, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. I worked there for about three months. I was gonna work up till the 25th of August...then something terrible happened.

I got burned. Literally, and BAD. We have this fryer called a broaster. Basically, you drop your chicken in, close the lid, and it will presser cook/deep fry it. Really interesting machine. Any ways, we have to drain it once a week. We drain it into buckets that have a handle on the side so you can pour them, then set them on the floor. Well, I didn't notice one of the buckets...and stepped on the handle. This in turn tipped the bucked towards me, emptying a large amount of 350 degree F grease onto my leg.

It hurt.

A lot.

I got second degree burns from bellow the mid point of my leg (below the knee. The calf I thing?) to the bottom of my foot. Since I had socks and shoes on, the grease just sat there and continued to cook my foot. So most of my lower leg has second degree burns, and my foot has a dime sized area of "deep tissue burn". I burned all the layers of skin in that area. It looks a lot like a 3rd degree burn, but the doctor doesn't believe it is. Its so small that I will most likely not need skin grafts.

So know I have my foot all bandaged up with silver iodine or some thing like that smothered all over it. The good news is that it is healing nicely, and it should be fine. I will just have skin that looks bad for a year or more in that area.

I will post pics of the burn in the future. I just have to get them off the camera, which my dad currently has (he is on a business trip ATM).

Going to head back to school around the 27th, as long as my leg is healed up enough.
