[Oh hey look it's the shoelaces kid. Might as well check in, see how he's doing. Call it professional curiosity.]

Sorry, the only experience I have with a restaurant is eating in one. Though if you could use some business, I'm your guy.

[Indeed, it is the shoelaces kid. At least he perks up a bit when he recognizes Finnick.]

Ah... business is always good. There's more seafood on the menu now. That's what you like, right?

[Perking people up is one of his specialties.]

It is, yeah. That's how I started getting on my feet around here, too--spent a week or two selling fish to a lady who wanted it fresh for her restaurant. Now that it's getting warm out again, I might have to pick that back up.

[Luke is strangely adoptable.]

If you need a buyer we can arrange something. Though... it doesn't seem like the money would go anywhere if you just spent it on our food. [A little laugh.]

It'd be a pretty fair trade, though. I catch it, you cook it, we both eat it and everyone's happy.

[Pause. Speaking of which--]

Sorry to hear about your friend. How're you doing?

Huh... you know, that doesn't sound so bad. I'm not the best cook, but I'm not bad either. [He earned a title, thank you very much.

That catches him off guard, and there's a moment where he's sort of scrambling for something to say. He lowers his voice a tad.]

... I'm all right. It's the people around me that I'm concerned about.

I'll let you know if I have a good catch sometime.

...You think it'll be worse on them than on you, huh?

That'd be great. Thank you.

[another pause]

Well... yeah. I've only been here for a little while compared to the people I'm living with. Now one of them thinks I'm going to leave, too.

But there's no telling when you will or not, right? One day you're just up and gone, no warning whatsoever.

Mm. [He doesn't know what Finnick is getting at.] I can't stay here forever. I don't want to. What I want is-- I want to see everyone home safely.

[His tone weakens.] And if they can't go back...

There has to be a better place than this.

How many of them are left, still here with you?

It's just me and Florian from home, but we have a friend from my last visit to the City living here.

There's another person who's staying with us until he gets some money or something. The guy with the obnoxious gray writing. I don't know him that well.

You're a pretty nice guy, letting him stay with you like that. Especially if he's as obnoxious as you say.

[A pause.]

I have a feeling you'll get them home safe.

[Awwwww. There's all sorts of conflicting emotions in him right now. Rather than something eloquent, Finnick is treated to the derpy side of Luke.]

I hope you're right. The only feeling I'm getting is hungry.

[Finnick approves wholeheartedly; god knows he was a pretty derpy kid himself, back in the day.]

Sounds like a job for that restaurant of yours.

[Luke can't imagine anyone being as derpy as he is. Except maybe Asch.]

Maybe. I already spent all day at the restaurant, though, so I'll probably just eat here.
