Who: Amelia Broadway, Sookie Stackhouse, Jason Stackhouse
Where: Gran's house
When: Breakfast time
Status: Incomplete
Even though Jason lived up at his parents' old place, that sure didn't mean he had to eat over there, too. Not when good cooking was right down the street!
Jason pulled up the drive to Gran's, and parked besides the two cars that were

Sitting up, she ran a hand through her tousled hair and grumbled. Squinting in the morning light, she reached down and dug through her purse for a hair tie. As she pulled her messy hair into a careless ponytail, she listened for any clues as to who Sookie's early-morning visitor might be. It certainly couldn't be Bill, that was for sure. Her mind still recovering from the depths of sleep, Amelia staggered to her feet and shuffled off toward the kitchen, hoping that there would be coffee waiting there, and plenty of it...
... along with Sookie and a tall, very good-looking young man. Well, good morning to me, Amelia thought, then banished such thoughts from her head, lest Sookie catch her drift. Blinking slowly, Amelia finally managed to say, "G'morning. I didn't know we had company." She paused. "Well. At least not until a couple minutes ago."

"'course I'm not goin' to try anything! We ain't even had breakfast yet!" Jason for some reason felt he was in the right to look a little offended. He didn't even know this girl yet, just her name and where she had slept. And while he'd worked a girl on less than that at Merlotte's, this girl definitely wasn't gonna be that way. She was a friend of his sis and all.
Once he was in the kitchen, it wasn't long before he plopped down in one of the table's chairs, seemingly forgetting all about the sleeping beauty in just the other room. He looked hopeful as he peered over his shoulder at his sister, and the oven. "Those pancakes you makin?"
Once that girl showed up though, it was just as easy for his attention to switch off his stomach and go right back to her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake nobody," Jason said as he turned towards Amelia and presented her a very sheepish grin.

She threw Jason a half smile over her shoulder, "Yeah, these are. I'm guessin' you want some," she teased, knowing full well that these morning visits for home cooked food were as regular as the seasons. She flipped the pancakes over before using the end of the spatula to separate the eggs that were cooking.
She looked up to see Amelia make her way sleepily into the kitchen, accidentally catching both of their sudden lusty signals. She closed her eyes for a moment and forced up her guard. She was a little too lazy about it in the morning and occasionally forgot about her freak-dom.
"G'morning," she greeted her new friend, "Amelia, this is my brother Jason. Jason, Amelia," she said, helping along with introductions. "There's milk in the fridge," she said, as she got three plates and sets of silverware out for them before dishing out pancakes and eggs for everyone.
After retrieving the butter and heated syrup, she set plates down for them and took a seat at the table. She realized how glad she was to see her brother since, last she heard, he'd been in jail for a crime she knew full well he could never have committed. "Jason, d'you know if they found out who killed Maudette?" Not exactly pleasant breakfast conversation, but it was the talk of the town and she thought that if Jason had been released, maybe they'd found the real killer.

Keeping this little internal argument to herself, Amelia simply said, "Nice to meet you. Thanks for the wake-up call." But she smiled to let Jason know that she was only joking.
As Sookie set the table, Amelia made a beeline for the coffee and sighed happily when she was soon seated, a warm mug of caffeinated goodness sitting in front of her.
But she momentarily lost her appetite at the mention of someone being murdered. Gulping down the sip of coffee she'd been taking, Amelia waited patiently for Jason's answer, wondering whether the killer had been identified yet. Sure, she'd heard about plenty of murders and fights down in New Orleans, but in a small town like Bon Temps? It seemed as though such a thing would be pretty rare.

"Seems like you made yourself a nice friend here, Sook," he happily pointed out, mostly because it didn't seem Amelia had any kids to go forcing Sookie to babysit. He didn't know anything much about her, but his sister seemed to have so few friends to begin with, he considered any additions to definitely be a good thing.
Jason woulda been happy to go on grinning at the girl till it was time for him to head off for work, but then Sookie had to go and ask him about all that stuff with Maudette. Before he even answered, Jason nose got all scrunched up. Whatever reluctance he had on answering seemed to suddenly melt away, because a second later it all seemed to come pouring right out.
"Apparently the way Bud and Andy do things, they figure anyone who sleeps with someone is just as likely to have gone and killed them. And since this is Maudette, well, they've got a long list of people to go through 'sides me." Jason normally wouldn't go talking about a girl like that, but Maudette was practically the unofficial Bon Temps welcoming committee. "Though, if I was in charge," Jason suddenly began, "I'd skip right to the crazy ass vamp she'd been with. Told them as much too!" But did either of them want to go and actually listen to what Jason Stackhouse had to say? Hell no! They just thought he had made the whole thing up, since they hadn't found that tape.
Jason had wished he had never had to watch that ugly bald and fanged motherfucker doing all that stuff to Maudette. Hell, he should have picked up his stuff and left right then, cuz what type of girl is going to not only let that all happen to her, but go and tape it too?! He was going to have a hell of time trying to find something that would make him forget it all. And he so did not need to be thinking any of this so early in the morning, much less hafta talk about it. And in front of this nice Amelia, girl, too.
He took a deep breath, shook his head at the whole mess, and then quickly dug into the plate that had been set before him.
Luckily, Sookie's cooking was good enough to help him forget his troubles, and stop that horrible vamp porno from playing back in his head.

She buttered her pancakes before drowning them in the warm syrup and cutting them into smaller pieces. She took a bite as she listened to Jason, glancing at Amelia. She had sorta wanted to save her from knowing just how much of a womanizer he was, but here it was coming out, anyway.
She shook her head, "Why can't you find a respectable girl who isn't considered to be the town bicycle?" Okay, she was teasing again, but Jason was such an easy mark. Then again, if he hadn't been fooling around with Maudette, he would have never been arrested in the first place.
She loved her brother, but sometimes she just couldn't approve of what he did in his private life. And since his private life was out in the open for her, whether she wanted to know or not, it was hard to ignore and forget. She just hoped that someday, he'd grow a bit more of a brain and find himself a nice girl to settle down with. Although, that was probably asking a lot.
"How do you know a vampire did it?" she shot back, suddenly feeling defensive. Jason probably didn't know about her blossoming relationship with Bill. Though now it was pretty obvious.
"I heard she got strangled, so why on earth would a vampire not kill her and suck her blood instead?" She returned to cutting her pancakes, "And not all vampires are vicious killers, Jason. Some are real nice and act like a gentlemen. Which is more than I can say for some human men I've known."
Well, the cat was out of the bag. Speaking of, Tina pranced into the room and rubbed against her legs. She smiled before taking a bite of scrambled eggs.

But as she distracted herself with the pancakes Sookie had made, Amelia listened in as Jason and Sookie discussed a woman named Maudette who had apparently been strangled to death. It was a strange conversation to play spectator to, her eyes shifting back and forth between brother and sister as she chewed on forkfuls of pancakes.
When the discussion turned to the possibility that a vampire may have been the culprit, and Sookie fired back - obviously a little biased because of Bill - Amelia jumped in before the silent lull in conversation grew even more tense.
"Vamps wouldn't just waste blood like that," she pointed out to Jason, taking another sip of her coffee. "Back home, whenever they found a drained body, that's when you knew that there was a thirsty vampire on the loose. Let's just say they never let a meal go untouched."
Shrugging, she crossed her arms over her chest and continued cheerfully, "But I'm sure they'll catch the guy eventually. I mean, murderers might be sneaky and think that they think of everything, but they usually get theirs in the end." Amelia didn't really know this from personal experience, but she'd read her fair share of crime novels and was fairly confident in her assumptions.

It seemed a little too easy for Jason to stop sending smiles Amelia's way, and start scowling again when the two of them both started to defend vampires.
"This one definitely ain't no gentleman. You didn't see this dude. I seen rabid dogs who looked better!" That certainly was the truth. He hadn't really ever seen a vampire before, but this dude had been one ugly motherfucker. And that was putting it pretty nicely, he thought.
Jason couldn't stop from rolling his eyes as both Sookie and Amelia try to reason why a vampire wouldn't go and do an evil thing like kill a person just to kill 'em.
Why did all girls seem to have nothing but touchy feely thoughts for vampires? Like, had they never turned on the damn TV? There, even the ones with big titties always ended up being evil!
Jason probably shoulda noticed his sister was a little bit more keen to defend vamps than normal. He didn't seem to, though.
"What if they had a full belly already? And were just killin' someone 'cuz they were mad they went and put them in a porno without asking first?"
Jason speared some pancake at the end of his fork, before going on. "Or maybe," he began, giving a pointed look to both Amelia and Sookie, "They wanted y'all to think that. That a vampire didn't do it. 'cuz he did it!" Jason looked pretty damn proud of that little detective work of his, and rewarded himself with that forkful of still warm pancake.
It didn't really matter who had done it, vamp or not. He just hoped they didn't even live in Bon Temps, and had the sense to never come back.
"I hope they do catch whoever did it. 'cuz at the moment I think I'm the talk of the damn town." He could only imagine what Hoyt would have to say at him today at work, when he passed down whatever his momma had been saying about Jason.
"I don't want any more of our girls showing up dead, neither," Jason quickly added, not wanting to be labeled as thinking just about himself. Jason had a certain amount of pride in his home town. He'd grown up defending it's reputation in All State, and now physically took care of it as his job working for the parish. At least it's roads and stuff, anyway. He wouldn't mind being able to do more. But he didn't exactly have the brains needed to go running around and figure out who had done in Maudette. He wished he did, though. He certainly would do a better job at catching murderers than Andy currently was, at the least.

Turning her attention back to Jason, she leaned her chin on her palm, "Well, I only know of one vampire in Bon Temps and he's quite handsome. And real nice," she said, smiling slightly to herself. And really trying not to blush.
She hoped Jason hadn't noticed the reddening in her cheeks as he continued his rant about vampires, eyebrows arching as his ramble seemed to grow weirder and weirder. Porno, what? She had a feeling she should let that comment lie. Or he'd explain it to her in his head at some point. Not that she was purposefully listening in. She really tried not to do that, especially not with her brother. Sex tended to be on his mind even more than most men.
"Don't be a bigot, Jason Stackhouse," she warned, "Just 'cause vampires have been stereotyped as killers in the movies and on TV don't mean they are all the time. Maybe that creepy one you were talkin' 'bout before might be more inclined to kill some poor innocent girl, but if Maudette, you know, liked being with vampires, I don't think they'd kill off their blood supply." Sure, there had been reports of accidents like that, where a vampire had taken too much blood from his 'fangbanger' by accident. "And they certainly wouldn't be stranglin' them," she said. No, Sookie was certain this wasn't a vampire. Either way, she made a mental note to ask Bill if he knew of any vampire that might, for some crazy reason, want to strangle someone. She had a feeling she already knew the answer was no.
She let out a light giggle, "When are you not the talk of the town, Jason." It was true, whether people were saying it or not, people were always thinking about Jason. They were either jealous of him, didn't like him, or wanted to, well, have sex with him, depending whose thoughts she had tuned in to. At least it was a tad nicer than what they thought about her.
Nodding to Amelia's words, she took another bite, "I hope you're right. We don't have many murders in Bon Temps, so it's gotta be excitin' for the police," she said, not exactly sure how competent Sheriff Dearborn and Andy really were for something more than minor theft or public drunkenness.
"It's just real unfortunate that they pegged you for the murder first, Jason." She sighed, knowing this was just another reason for people to think the Stackhouses were crazy.

I wonder what he'd do if he found out I was a witch, Amelia thought, furrowing her eyebrows as she listened to the conversation still going on around her. Burn me at the stake? Ouch.
But she knew she was being too hard on Jason. He'd probably never seen an actual vampire in person, let alone met one, and he was significantly removed from the supernatural world, whereas Amelia - and Sookie - were not. They were both different in very distinct ways, and that may have had some effect on their perception of vamps.
Sighing heavily, Amelia accepted the fact that Jason was only human and couldn't help how he felt. Especially having been dragged down to the police station the way he had...
Catching Sookie's teasing tone, Amelia jumped in, "The talk of the town, huh? You must be a pretty popular guy."
But as the conversation grew serious once more, Amelia began to think about precautions she could take to ward a few places in town, maybe try to put safety spells around a few key areas. It would take time, though, and before she could finish, the killer may have struck again... But Amelia was hoping, for her sake and for everyone else's, that this was just a freak accident, one-time deal and that the killer would be caught within the next day or so.
But something tells me that probably won't be the case... she thought, biting her lip with worry.

Plus, with Gran not around, he had felt no need to even try to censor himself. Not that he ever did very well when he did...
He didn't say anything more about vampires, but he did certainly make quite the face when he learned that even his sister found a vampire "handsome"!? Now, a lot stuff went unnoticed right under Jason's nose, he'd be the first admit, but fuck! Sookie was BLUSHING! About a guy! A vampire guy! Holy fucking hell! He was never spending another night in jail, not ever, if this is the type of shit you come back to!
Now, Jason tried to tell himself Sookie's business, was well, Sookie's business. But how had a vampire moved into his town without him even knowing about it?
"There's a vampire in Bon Temps, really? You seen him? He ain't bald or nothing like that?" Whoever Sookie was talking about definitely seemed like it wasn't the same ugly motherfucker he had been complaining about earlier. But he still had to ask, just to be sure.
Jason's spirits picked right back up when the talk drifted back to a topic he actually was quite the authority on-- himself.
"Hell yeah, I am!" he immediately chirped up, as if they hadn't been discussing murders, vampires, and other shit like that just a few seconds earlier.
When he glanced to Amelia, he simply nodded with an almost proud grin. "Yep, sure am. But I'm sure you'll find that after a few nights at Merlotte's."
Without even missing a beat, he quickly added, "I'm planning on going there tonight, soon as I finish work if you'd like someone to show you around."
As for Sookie feeling sorry about his little run in with the law, Jason just shrugged. "Don't need to tell me that, Sook. I don't even wanna think about all the trouble it's bringing Gran, either."
