Sookie definitely stood out quite a bit from the fangbangers that were hanging around the bar tonight, but he'd much rather her wear the pretty white dress than the leather and such that the others were wearing. He found her much more attractive than any of the others hanging around this place. “Have I mentioned you look lovely tonight?” he asked, leaning down to whisper it in her ear so that others wouldn’t hear. The other vampires in the bar would hear, but there was little he could do about that.

When she asked for them to sit down, he nodded, taking her to a booth so that they wouldn’t be in the middle of the bar. He could still feel most of the eyes of the bar patrons upon them, him because he was a vampire, and her mainly because she was beautiful. He could also guess, without reading minds, that they were wondering what he and Sookie did behind closed doors.

When a waitress came by, he ordered a bottle of True Blood, and then looked at Sookie. “Order whatever drink you want,” he said to her with a smile. He was sure that a drink would make her feel a little better, if she was comfortable enough to even order an alcoholic drink in a vampire bar.

Sookie followed Bill to a booth that was slightly out of the way of the main action of the bar. Not that it did much to deter the influx of thoughts. 'No bite marks. Wonder if they're under that tiny ass dress,' she heard before Bill's question interrupted her. "What?" she looked up at the waitress, "Oh, I'll have a gin and tonic, please."

She reached across the table and placed her hand over Bill's. Closing her eyes, she focused on his complete lack of thoughts, which was a lot clearer with touch, and managed to push the rest out of her mind.

The waitress soon returned, arching a suggestive brow at her hand on his before placing their drinks on the table. She retrieved her hand and picked up her drink, taking a long sip. "Do you like these kinda places?" she asked, since it didn't exactly look like Bill's scene.

He covered her hand with his other one and gave her hand a squeeze. Even though he didn't have the ability to read minds, he found her every bit as calming as she did him. She made him feel more human than he had since he had died.

Bill made a face and shook his head when she asked if he liked these kinds of places. "Honestly? Too tourist-y for me," he admitted to her. There were plenty of places where he could get a warm and willing meal that didn't involve people coming in wanting to take pictures of him with his fangs out to show the office buddies at home.

"I am trying to be more along the 'mainstream,' but people asking to take my picture kind of...freaks me out," he admitted, taking a second to think of the more modern way of saying what he wanted to say. "It makes me feel similar to a costumed character in Disneyland." Not the greatest of feelings.

"I do know the people who run this place, though." Not people he technically got along with, but at least he knew what he should expect from them at any given moment.

Sookie couldn't help but let out a breath of relief. She thought Bill might secretly be in to all this weird S&M type stuff. She was pretty sure she didn't own anything leather. She could just imagine her Gran doing the wash and finding some sort of shiny leather undies and bra. And once again, she was glad no one could read her mind.

"I think that's real smart," she said, taking a sip of her drink. "Being mainstream, I mean. I think you'll stay more out of trouble. People'll still know what you are if you're drinking True Blood all the time, but at least they'll trust you a bit more if they know you're not off hangin' at this place sittin' on some big throne." She could see why the other vampires would like it though. Lots of willing victims.

She brows rose at his next words, "Oh, you do? Do they know how cheezy it is?" she said, snickering slightly. Knowing her luck and vampires' hearing, she realized she should probably keep it down.

He could see that she was relieved that he didn't really care for the S&M look. It was...kind of boring to him, weirdly enough. Far too many of the newer vampires affected the look, so he saw it far more often than he would have liked. Plus, he was still of the idea that a woman should leave a little bit more to the imagination that leather allowed. Even Sookie's breezy sundress left more than a skintight leather outfit. Plus, he could usually still smell the actual cow when people wore leather. It wasn't pleasant.

"It's how I think of it as well," he said to her. "Not all vampires are the 'creatures of the night' that people need to be afraid of, I believe. There are still plenty who are...less than worth the air they no longer breathe, but the same could be said with a couple of humans as well."

He glanced toward the empty throne where he knew Eric usually sat. "He knows, and I think it sort of amuses him. Plus...it ah...brings in more willing...participants." He tried to put it as nicely as possible, but the meaning was clear.

Sookie nodded to his words, "That's definitely true," she said. "If you knew some of the awful thoughts--I'm sure it's a billion times worse than what some mainstreamin' vampire could do."

Sipping on her drink, she rolled her eyes, "It just makes me sick that some girl could fall for such a lame tactic. Especially since I know some of the girls who've come here." She thought of her coworker Dawn, who had had some explicit thoughts about the blonde vampire from this very bar.

"Well, if it works for 'em and keeps the business goin', I guess I can't really blame the gimmick," Sookie told him.

"Unfortunately", being human doesn't make some people better than vampires," he said with a sigh. That was something that he had learned long ago, before he had even been a vampire himself. It was a depressing thought, and not one that he wanted to think about for long. He wanted to keep a positive attitude about people in general, vampire or not. Experience just kept him from doing so most of the time.

He tilted his head when she mentioned that she knew some girls who came here. "You do? Are they girls that you work with?" He had to admit the fact that, so far, he had seen her with no other people than her coworkers and her family, and he highly doubted that her grandmother would be the type to frequent a place like this.

"I really do think that it's a business gimmick," Bill said to her. "Any vampire more than a few years old wouldn't be into this sort of thing on purpose, I would think." Not to paint a picture of all vampires being decent or anything. It was more like most liked to remain hidden, and nothing about Fangtasia was hidden.

"A girl I went to high school with, her name was Maudette Pickins, she came here a couple times," Sookie said. "She was murdered the other day, actually. My brother was accused of it since he was a little friendly with her--well, he is with almost every woman in Bon Temps--but now they're thinkin' it's a vampire. Except she was strangled, so I don't know what to think."

She wished the police would get off their butts and do something about it before someone else got killed. "And a girl I work with, she's come here a few times. A couple times I've caught her thinking about that blonde vampire that sits on the throne," she told Bill, but lowered her voice, "I think he's fed on her."

"I am very sorry to hear about your friend," Bill said to her. He had heard about her murder, but had immediately known that it wasn't a vampire, no matter what the police in Bon Temps may have thought. "It wasn't a vampire, though. Forgive me for being blunt, but a vampire would not have left the blood behind and just strangled the poor woman."

Bill made a slight face at the thought of Eric feeding off of one of Sookie's friends. It did not make him feel any more comfortable being here. "It's quite possible," he said back to her in a lowered voice as well. "There are vampires these days that prefer to get by on blood given freely as opposed to the Tru Blood." It was an improvement over taking it forcefully, bit it still didn't given vampires as a whole a good image.
