The Most Memorable

While procrastinating from working on my thesis today, I got this message from my friend Fred:

"Hey you. The Wavemakers had a student panel and D mentioned you as her most memorable tutor."

When I read this I literally let out an "awww!" Fred told me that the couple of wavemakers from 4th wave were on a student panel today at a tutor training. One of the tutor's asked the wavemakers to name their most memorable tutor. For D it was me.

I have had my old wavemakers on my mind a few times the last couple of months and I've been meaning to get a hold of my old leadership team. Now, I feel more compelled to visit. The reason this is even more special for me is because it came from a student who I had trouble with during her 6th grade year. It seemed that for one reason or another we could not get along, and we were always clashing. It was never personal...she resisted my authority and I resisted her resistance. Even through those tough times I mentioned to her that we were more alike than different and that's why we clashed as much as we did.

It brings me a lot of comfort that she might appreciate that now. Those kids taught me a lot, that organization taught me a lot...I think its time for a cameo.
