moveon.org is collecting electronic signatures for a petition to contest funding cuts for public broadcasting. public broadcasting is, in fact, a service almost every civilized, industrial nation provides and--whatever its flaws--the u.s. system is pretty low on propaganda and fairly high on some useful and interesting information.

and it's a damn oasis when you can't afford cable!

[disclosure: i may be somewhat biased here as i did broadcast for my local npr news bureau for a while]
