as i spend the day ruminating (just this one day), an interesting quirk. the steadfast
gaelfarce mentioned that evergreen, here in olympia, which is a pretty respected hippie-school with high academic standards, apparently has some pretty serious computer science courses. i had always thought of them as more of a straight-up liberal arts gig and their website does little to disabuse one of that notion....
anyway, the point here is that, since time is limited, i just picked up the phone and called admissions. the one nugget i took away from the conversation is that--for continuing education types who already have a bachelor's degree--evergreen eliminates all general requirements and you can focus on the core classes in your discipline. i'd essentially be 45 credits from another degree!
bizarre! it'd be about one year of study. i'd have more bachelor's degrees without a master than anyone i know (i already double-majored in literature and music). it's a pointless distinction but amusing enough....
...i have no idea what any of this means yet. i'm forcing context today, which is amusing too
[...i used to wonder a lot what life is like for fully-functional people, but i don't anymore. i operate on sheer entertainment value and, for anyone whose younger than me, subtract your age from mine, live the intervening years and then let me know what you think of that approach!]
