Making Progress

Feb 23, 2020 19:40

As of the day I start writing this (Sunday evening, 2/23/2020, 6:51 pm Pacific Standard Time), my husband and I will be leaving for Kansas in 31 more days. I AM SCARED!

In other news, I have been making progress on packing. It's slow, but it's going on. I'm packing the fragile things: my small collection of handmade ceramics, (which isn't that small! Aaah!), the tchotchkes, and soon; the shelf of natural history items, including the skull of our first cat Felon. I was supposed to be packing the kitchen, as well, but we've runout of time so my husband and I are paying the movers to pack that instead. We still have to pack our clothes and the bathroom ourselves, and the odds and ends from packing other areas. And the 2-drawer filing cabinet.

I hate to say this, but I think I have too many special coffee mugs. My mind is wailing, "But they're my bay-beees!!!"

Almost all of our books are packed, as well as our CDs and our DVDs.

I'm wondering what will fit into our car for the drive to Kansas. The List: 2 adult humans, 1 22-pound, 31-inch-long cat (excluding tail), 1 l-a-r-g-e cat carrier (there's room for the cat to lie full-length and still have a little bit of room around him), 1 cardboard scratcher, 2 containers of coolant, 2 quarts of oil, 3 gallons of water (I was told 2, but I'd prefer to take 3 to be safe, especially since we have the cat's needs to consider), a can of brake fluid, clothes for the trip and bathroom gear for two, a box with a pan, 2 plates, table setting for 2, a jar of cashew butter and a loaf of bread, 2 travel mugs, 1 cat food dish, 1 water dish, 1 cat box, 1 large tool box of acrylic paint, 1 box of personal papers, 2 hardcover-book-sized desktop computers, 2 monitors, 1 laptop computer, 1 pair of computer speakers...

...and I don't think that will all fit into our SUV with the back seats down. My husband and I are going to have to work this out...or ask Dr. Who if we could rent the T.A.R.D.I.S.
