Actually, I was thinking about it, but since I'm doing chess sets, I don't want people to use them for the knights just yet. I think to be ponies, the mane would need to come down in front like bangs/fringe, not stand up rigid, but I'll need to study some photos before I can be sure.

Adding new animals is hard. I can't make them look really realistic, they have to be my interpretation of the animal, pulling out a few characteristics that stand out for me. For some reason, the rigid mane of a zebra is the second one for me (after stripes). Lionesses are fairly non-distinct from other cats at this scale, but they have that little beard thing. Tigers (unpainted) look like lionesses, but their faces have to be rounder, which my fingers resist doing. Also, because they might well be played with, nothing can be too delicate on there, and a lot of animals have their most defining feature be a delicate thing. How would you make a chip-resistant deer?

I'm pleased I got recognisable frogs, finally. The delicate front legs nearly had to go, and what is a frog but legs?

Anyway. Off to deal with the kilns. *weep*
