So this past Saturday, I sustained my first real rugby injury... not counting the sprained quad last week.
We played Shippensburg at Ship Saturday afternoon. I went up for a
line out and the girl on the other team must have gone sideways because she ended up landing on my head. I felt and heard my neck crack at least 5 times and then my head got really really heavy and I could not get up. So I just laid on the field, holding my neck in pain and in the fetal position until I got some help. So, I was taken off the field and they gave me ice for the rest of the game.
I made an appointment with the campus health center for Monday. The lady there scolded my team for not taking me to the ER right away because depending on whether or not something was cracked or chipped, I could have been dead. So, she sent me to the ER for some X-rays. The verdict was that my neck muscles were spasaming and contracting around my vertebrae. It's called torticollis. So the doctor prescribed some muscle relaxers and some tylenol with codine.
So this week has been kinda rough to say the least. I AM playing in our game this Saturday, regardless. It's in Kutztown Saturday at noon if anyone can come. I'm playing because a good number of friends are going to be there along with my mom, dad and brother. =) I can't wait.
Sean's coming up to Bloom for the weekend. That should be a fun to say the least. =) We're gonna get CRUNK Saturday afternoon/evening.
Here's probably the best
picture taken of me... ever. I'm doing a thing called rucking. Which, basically, is when someone is tackled, they can't hold onto the ball, so they place it on the ground, facing their team so we can pick it up and continue on. Well, at the same time, the other team is trying to get to the ball, so you ruck for it. I won in this pic. =)
Miss you guys!!
ps. I also got my tongue
pierced on Tuesday. =)
