Remix is a challenge that can go a few different ways, but this time around, I was lucky enough to be remixed by
kormantic, an author whose writing I love and admire. Her innovative story,
I'm the first in line (the ABBA-dabba-doo mix) takes place behind the scenes during Take A Chance On Me.
When I wrote the original story, I wished there was some way I could include more of John's thoughts and feelings about being split into two - as well as seeing more of the team's reaction.
kormantic's remix has stepped in to fill that void brilliantly with not just one, but four different versions of John's next move.
As I said to her in my feedback, remix isn't as much about taking a story and making it better as it is about taking a story and making it *more*. Go read
kormantic's story and enjoy it as much as I did.
While I'm at it, I'd like to thank
synecdochic and all of the participants in this challenge for providing so much awesomeness. It's very, very easy for remixes to go off into nasty or cringe-worthy directions, but I've been consistently impressed with all of the stories I've been reading, and the respect the remixers have for the authors they've been assigned. The entire experience has been nothing but fun and I certainly won't hesitate to participate again.
