Three Reasons to Watch SYTYCD This Season.

Jun 04, 2010 23:17

This post was going to be a random mix of all sorts of things. Turns out I have the brainpower for this.

1. Kent Boyd. This kid is adorable. He had a HUGE personality, and his technique is pretty impressive, especially given how young he is. I'm not going to lie to you, I'm looking forward to Kent more than I'm looking forward to Billy Bell. Travis has Kent (and some other dancers, but I can't remember which ones) for the first episode, and I cannot wait to see his choreography on Kent. CANNOT. WAIT.

Actually, his technique in this video isn't that great. He fell out of a few turns. But the video is old, and he's improved.

2. Billy Bell. His technique is much better than Kent's. He is even MORE adorable than Kent. Homeboy goes to Julliard. You might say that he has some skill. Billy was supposed to be on the show last year to compete with Jakob Karr, but he got mono and had to drop out. He was pretty much guaranteed a spot this year. He's also from West Palm Beach, Florida, so I gotta love a fellow Floridian.

3. Alex Wong. He does this in his spare time. To be honest, I don't know a whole lot about him. But I think he's a fabulous dancer. He is (obviously) the Asian in the embedded video.

Please don't dismiss So You Think You Can Dance as just another reality show. These kids having been dancing their whole lives. They have so much more talent than contestants on other reality shows. In general, I don't think people really appreciate dance enough. But can you do a tilt or anything resembling this or this or this? I didn't think so. And that's just contemporary dancing. CLEARLY, dancers give me feelings.

I could ramble FOREVER about this, but uh, I'm getting sleepy.

JUST WATCH THE SHOW. FLAIL AT THE AWESOME.
