Katy's POV - I feel like in this fandom, she's the one on the outside, the inconvenient character that stands between Kris and Adam, and most people either don't like her or don't care about her (in fic). And as you noted, often even in poly fic she's the one capitulating, the one sacrificing, just trying to hang on to Kris. I wanted something more equal here, and I wanted her to be likable and relate-able to the reader, thus the choice to use her POV.
One of the other challenges I faced/am facing is Adam's sexuality. A lot of times in poly situations Adam seems rather more bisexual than he comes across IRL (though he blurs that line IRL more often now than when I started). I'm writing him as a 5 on the Kinsey scale. I don't want to cheat and have him magically attracted to Katy, when let's face it, his primary (sexual) interest IS Kris. So addressing the disconnect between him and Katy on a sexual level will be an ongoing theme.
