I've been doing a lot of thinking lately...
...about sponges.
So, everyone knows there is a water creature known as a sponge. Most everyone is also aware there is a handy cleaning device known as a sponge. These two things apparently share similar properties and look much alike. But I seem to think that the connection goes deeper. Did we once use sponges as sponges? In other words, were these two meanings once synonymous in a similar respect to which "pig" and "pork" are synonymous? If this is the case, then a truly hideous concept rears its head: What about sponge cake?!?!?!...? Ever eaten sponge cake? If you've eaten a twinky, then yes. But then again, if you've eaten a twinky in your life, I'd suggest visiting a doctor immediately, because there's much more frightening stuff than a sponge in there. Of course, I've eaten a twinky before, the last time being probably about ten years ago. So I'll be off to the doctor now. See you later.
