Our house flooded. Besides the sudden loss of a loved one, there's not a whole lot more overwhelming than getting a call that your house is leaking and coming home to water seeping out your front door. Open the door and there is your shaking dog standing in 3 inches of water with a look on his face: I didn't do it.
Our bedroom carpet was completely soaked, the living room was under water, and the hallway was submerged. When you first see this you think...wow, what a shitty thing. We turned the water off, moved our stuff onto the yard, moved our bedroom into the living room, tried to find the leak. Busted pipe in the wall. I never thought I would ever be so relieved to hear that a coupling broke in the wall.
Drew fixed it in a day and we moved everything back in. If this had been a pipe from under the house....we would have had a much bigger problem. Ya know, it sucked it happened in the first place, but Albert's room didn't get ANY water, the master bath was completely dry, and most of the kitchen was spared. After we dried the whole place up the only casualty was one area rug. We may have to replace the carpet in our bedroom, but for now it's fine.
I am so thankful to have friends like Tyler who took a day off of work and helped us clean up our house and move all our stuff. AND baked us cake. He is a good man.
And I am so thankful to be loved by such a wonderful handy man. One day I hope I can make Drew as proud of me as I am of him everyday.
So there's a bit of honesty. I never write on this thing, but this was an experiance to remember that will always remind me that material things mean jack shit as long as you have good friends and true love.
