Our anniversary was fun. J came home from school and had three roses to give me because about a month ago I bitched about the fact that he has never bought me flowers. Anyway it was really cute, and we put them on the table in a vase, the cat ate them and proceeded to throw up on our bed. Romantic, huh?
We knew we were going to go out to dinner, but we had no clue where to go. J got on the internet and looked up a restaurant guide for San Jose. There were a bunch of different places to go in downtown so he just let me pick one. I picked the one that sounded the most interesting to me. It's called
The Melting Pot, and it's a fondue restaurant. It was so awesome! It's kinda pricey, but it was okay because it was a special occasion. We got to pick what kind of cheese fondue we wanted and then they came and made it at the table. We picked one with beer, garlic, mustard powder, pepper, worstershire, swiss and cheddar cheese in it. The tables have the fondue heaters built in to the middle of the table. It is sort of like those kitchen ranges that look just like a counter top with nothing raised on it. They gave us vegetables, apples, and bread to dip in it. Then we each got to pick a salad that we wanted. And for our last course they brought us raw sirloin, shrimp, pork tenderloin, breast of duck, breast of chicken, potstickers, potatoes, broccoli, mushrooms, and squash. They took away our fondue pot and put on a pot of oil for us to cook our own shit in. It was so bizarre. We got to choose what kind of marinate to put the meat in and then drop it in the oil and wait for it to be cooked. I tried it with the vegetables first because I knew that if I ended up not doing it right, I wasn't going to get salmonella. It was so different than anything I had done before.
Of course, you can have more than just cheese fondue. If you guys didn't click on the link yet, please, please, please go and look at the dessert menu. It's on page 4 of the adobe file. I'm kinda pissed we were too full for dessert. I am definitely going back there with at least one of you for it. Jazz, there will be one in the city in early 2006, Chris, there is going to be one in Palo Alto, and Nat there is one in Thousand Oaks. I want the chocolate so bad! Did you read all of the stuff it comes with? Damn! Chocolate covered cheesecake?? Sign me up!
