Ms. choirofangels,

First, I must explain who I am and how I learned of your message. My name is Bill Davis and I am a friend of PapagenoPJ. I admit that I do not know you and have no preexisting relationship with you. I fully stand by my statements in this note and are in no way an indication of PapagenoPJ's. Anyway, as I was looking at my friend's LJ earlier today, I went to the "Friends" section, so I could see the people I know and what they are doing. Well, I ran across your comment, declaring "stupid, stupid America." Well, as a conservative person, I sat straight up and decided to look at what made you so mad.

I am familiar with this bill. I know what it is about and why it was proposed. I know who proposed it and who supports this bill. I know this, becuase I looked at all the information surrounding the bill. I do not believe that you took that amount of care before you called the nation that has preserved your freedoms and rights "STUPID!"

The truth behind this bill is that it is was introduced at the beginning of this Congress in January 2003. At midnight January 2, 2005, this bill will not be under consideration by the Congress until introduced again, a little known fact. Anyway, this bill was proposed by Chuck Rangel (D-NY), a liberal Congressman. It is supported by only 14 Congressmen, out of 435. In January 2003 it was sent to the House Armed Services Committee. In February 2003 it was sent to the Subcommittee on Total Force. No other action has been taken on this bill since. That is called "burying a bill in committee." If it has been in the subcommittee that long, that means that it is dead and buried. Also, since it was proposed by an extremely liberal Congressman and supported by extremely liberal Congressmen, in a conservative controlled House, it has a snowball's chance in hell of reaching a final vote.

Likewise, the Senate version of the bill was proposed at the same time, has no sponsors, and is dead and buried in committee.

I would suggest that next time you criticize anything, you research it and see if your criticism actually applies. As I said before, I fully support and stand by my comments and research.
