...chris update...
chris has not had a good medical week. monday, while he was at home, he only took half of his pills by accident (he has to take two kinds twice a day), which made him have a pedi mal (small seizure). chris came home to work tuesday, and that was fine.
wednesday he was working the 3-11 shift in norton, and around 7 i got a call from him. turns out he had been trying to move the large coffee pots (which are really heavy) across the counter and fell backwards, causing boiling hot coffee to spill all over the floor and his arm. I got to the store to take him to the hospital, thankfully someone was smart enough to get ice on his arm quickly. we made it to sturdy, and the doctor who checked him out said that he was lucky, that if he didnt have ice there would have been way more blisters than there were. he did, however, have to get a tetnaus shot, since he hadn't had one in a few years, and we went home with instructions on how to change the dressing they out on him.
yesterday...i came home from work, changed his dressing, made dinner, and sent him to his model train meeting. around 1030, i get a call from chris' phone, thinking that he is calling me to talk to me on his way home. it was actually some nice fireman named steve who told me that chris had been in an accident and was on the way to sturdy. I tried to find out what happened, but we lost service. im freaking out, finding chris' pills, my moms trying to convince me that she should come with me, and we drive to attleboro with no idea of what happened to chris.
we got to the hospital before the ambulance, and two of chris' friend were already there. They had been at the meeting with him when chris tried to leave the attic in which they have their meetings and fell down 8 or 9 of the steep stairs that they have, landing on the bottom. i finally get to see chris to give him his pills, and i was trying to calm myself down before i saw him. I walked in to find him shirtless with a sling around his shoulder, neck brace keeping his head still, and a big amount of gauze wrapped around his head.
i don't think i can ever get that image out of my head, how helpless and in pain he looked, im crying just remembering.
after several hours of xrays, ct scans, mini freakouts, and poorly made jokes by chris in attempts to lighten the mood, chris thankfully didnt break anything, he just bruised his shoulder really badly (he landed on it) and had to have at least 5 staples put into his head wound. now hes sleeping on the living room floor wince he couldnt make it up the stairs last night and i have to make sure hes ok before i have to work at 3
