so here we are on fall break 2005 and what a wonderful one it has been. ok, so maybe nothing incredible has happened and i haven't really done much, but i've definitely been busy for the past two days.
-i got to see my fourth graders on friday and that was amazing as always. mark told me "miss holmes, you're gonna make a great teacher someday; you're gonna be the best." so yeah, that was my moment of the day. you know how in the movies the camera stops and it spins around the room while everyone stands there without making a single move or when you're watching a football game and they stop in the middle of an instant replay and do a 360 around the player...well, that was the experience i had right after he said that because i'm a major sucker for fourth graders who compliment me. i also got a group "goodbye miss holmes" on my way out the door. someone please tell me why i need another 2.5 years until i can do this everyday.
-i got to hang out with melissa the other night. and let me say we are a dangerous duo. i hate that we don't get to hang out like we used to (way back in high school...everyday. we were like siamese twins..except she's taller and blonde and i'm short and brunette..whatever, we're the same). i miss her.
-i got to see brad who i haven't seen since january. and i love that kid. it was like no time had passed at all. we realized at o'charley's this evening that it makes no sense that we're friends; we're pretty much complete opposites. and we've known each other since fourth grade. that's 10 years..and that's crazy. brad's fantastic.
-i managed to spend about 8 hours so far (of my break) reading for my religion class. and yes, that is a lot of reading..but it's actually interesting (for the most part) so it's not so horrible i guess. it's a lot easier for me to sit down and read here in braselton than it is in athens. here i have no better alternative. sad, but true.
-the gateway holiday is about 24 hours from now. traditionally i would be pulling out the christmas music come tuesday but maybe i'll push it back a little bit this year bc i don't think katie'd be too thrilled with deck the halls come november 1st.
-my father's infamous and innappropriate wit has returned..i'm not sure where it was for the past few months but he caught me off guard with it the other night (during dinner of course) and i pretty much almost died he had me laughing so hard.
-i'm starting to put together my recommendation letters for the college of education. we're hoping for the best.
-i'm excited about christmas break. part of me is tempted to get a job...but we'll see how that goes.
other than that, that's pretty much all i've got for now. i'm gonna try to wait as long as possible before heading back to athens tomorrow. don't get me wrong, i love the A.T.H. but then going back means going back to classes, homework and blah blah blah. i like being home. Three weeks and 2 days until Thanksgiving break. Party on.
