goddamit malaysia, you're singing the wrong words. i just went to eat and to the bar in the hotel and saw 2 live bands. the first one was a lady and a fella singing 80s songs. the guy kept singing the wrong words. then! i went to the hotel bar. i was kind of nervous about going there because this is the description of it on a saturday night:
"jostle through the smiling beer crowd, you will be nudging past femme fatales and an eager crowd submergest in the bustling ambiance. yes... gorgeous girls hang out at piccolo every saturday night and its our treat all night for ladies with our selection of house-pouring spirits, so come join us at piccolo and party all night with the scorching music of our resident band REMIX."
1: there were no femme fatales. there were like 20 ladies in hijabs (lourans told me not to make eye contact with them, OR ELSE).
2: you are not allowed to party all night. you may only party until the resident band REMIX stops playing.
3: the resident band REMIX is going to sing many of the words wrong.
3a: that's going to drive me nuts.
i had a good time though. like in my last post, i complain that everything's lame here, but i've actually been having a good time. both of these bands i've seen we're really incredible musicians. the first one, the guy was playing rhythm and lead guitar parts on piano, singing, and messing with a computer (probably looking at facebook) at the same time. the second one had equally talented musicians.
so, here's my hypothesis. ALL people in asia are very talented and can reproduce anything. their only problem is that they can't come up with the original material. i feel like i can make money off of this. or, it might be true that they can come up with the original stuff, but play crappy western songs when they're at crappy western people hotels.
