Happy 3rd Debut Anniversary, Liyin! 张力尹 장리인!
On September 9, 2006, Zhang Liyin, a 17-year-old Chinese girl from Sichuan, debuted as a solo artist under S.M. Entertainment with "Timeless," featuring TVXQ's Xiah Junsu. Since then, Chocolates (the unofficial name of Liyin's fans) have waited patiently for the past three years for the occasional snippets of news about Liyin's next performance, appearance, or new songs. Still we persevere, hoping, knowing that one day the wait will be worth it, because Liyin's talents deserve to be known throughout Asia and the world. 090909 is not merely the third anniversary of Liyin's debut; in Chinese, the number 9 is homophonic to 久, "long-lasting." This is our hope for Liyin: that her star may shine for a long time, timeless in its luminance.

Zhang Li Yin was born to violinists in Sichuan, China as a native from Chengdu. Throughout her childhood, her parents took her to their rock concerts and exposed her to a variety of music. At three years old, she began to learn the violin. Zhang was so accustomed to classical, American, and European pop music that she claims she never sang children's songs when she was a child. She also developed the ability to sing a song after hearing it only once.
As she grew older, Zhang became more absorbed into pop music than rock music. She had to secretly listen to pop music because her parents were against it. When she was twelve, she was accepted into a middle school affiliated to Sichuan Music College after scoring the highest with her violin talents, but she opted to become a singer instead. Eventually, her parents began to support her dream to become a singer and she gained confidence when she was selected as the top 10 adult singers in a national singing competition under the sponsorship of Shanghai.
After accompanying a friend to a singing competition, Zhang was discovered when Beijing partners informed the head of Korean talent agency SM Entertainment of a young talent. In late 2004, she moved to Korea and started training the age of fourteen.

A concert featuring artists such as Wang Lee Hom, Super Junior-M and of course, Zhang Li Yin herself. Expected to air on CCTV (China's national television channel), it is an event well-known throughout China, watched by all generations in the family.
October 23, 2009 - "Huaren • Night in Phoenix City" Concert
A concert featuring Show Luo, Super Junior-M, Zhang Li Yin among others... Well-known Taiwanese female TV host, Patty Hou, is expected to co-host the event.
October 2009 - 2nd Chinese Single
There is a strong rumour coming from inside sources at Liyin's Chinese fansites that her upcoming release will be a single featuring one ballad song and one dance song. Liyin herself later confirmed that her next release will happen in October.

Chocolyn's first ever project, "Sing, Speak, Support" is the slogan for our petition to SME on behalf of Liyin. Prompted by the SMTOWN '08 Live Concert setlist that alloted only two solo performances for Liyin, the petition rallied fans and non-fans alike to voice their protest against SME's negligence of Liyin. To Liyin herself, we gave her clothing from Aéropostale.

To celebrate Liyin's 20th Birthday, Chocolyn raised funds to purchase a variety of gifts for Liyin, including a Victoria's Secret dress, a Swatch watch, a Christina Aguilera CD, a Coach wristlet, and personalized earbuds. Additionally, we gathered birthday wishes from Chocolates to Liyin and published them into a booklet.

For the third anniversary of Liyin's debut, Chocolyn decided to get a gold PSP 3006 as the main gift. Because of the generous donations given by Chocolyn members, we were also able to give Liyin 2 PSP games, a variety of DVD movies, and a neck pillow sleep set from Juicy Couture. Led by lovepixie, a group of talented Chocolates also recorded a CD them singing Liyin's songs. lavenderwingz and sweetbow folded stars written with messages of encouragement and support to Liyin from Chocolates. And various fans recorded a video message to Liyin that were placed into the memory stick of the PSP.
