There is a buzzing in the stillness as she waits. Waits to hear the distant cry of sirens. Waits for the tittering whispers of passersby. Waits for the gentle reassurances of a kind classmate by her side. She waits, and breathes - raggedly, shivers - pulsingly, cries - silently. No one is coming. To tend her wounds. To hold her hand. To bring her back to the daylight. So she lies upon the concrete front steps of a school that never welcomed her, staring into cloudy skies as only ants come forth to greet her.
