I have no idea who on my friends list actually reads my posts :) And I certainly have no problem with those who do actually skimming or skipping them! Especially as in a couple of months it'll probably be all about how often and how much my bubs has pooed in one day, and how much my nipples hurt from feeding :)
Some people do get themselves tied up in knots about it though, which seems silly.
Oh, and what is it about backs at the moment? Everyone seems to be having problems with their back. Mine's completely cactus :(
I read your posts! I don't comment very often, especially as my experience of having a parasite growing inside me is rather limited, but I do read them! ^___^
I've also done what you've suggested in that post - I have my main default friends list (which you're on), then quite a few sub groups which are easy to view by selecting from the drop down list at the top of the screen in the LJ bar. I did this a while ago when I realised it was getting a bit ridiculous! So eg different sections for communities, those I don't want in my main list but still want links to etc.
It's wierd, but I don't mind reading, and skimming, the most mundane or personal subjects so long as I know the person. What freaks me out is reading overly personal stuff about people I don't know. I can't offer advice because, well, I don't know them well enough. Or I find I don't really care that much because, well, I don't know them. Which makes me feel guilty, which is stupid because I don't know them!
I know you, so I'll probably read the baby stuff with fascination. Unless it freaks me out - but then it'll only be because it's freaky baby stuff, not because I don't know you. Does that make sense?
Yeah, that make sense. Although I don't get freaked out reading personal info of people I don't know, it's just not as interesting.
By the way, thank you for the present, it arrived today in my hot little hands! I love hand-made stuff.
I must get back into the crochet... I usually do it while watching TV, but I've been too tired recently and just flop down on the couch. I'm determined to find a baby bonnet pattern that I like and actually works! So many of them for some reason end up being these kind of flat things, not shaping properly.
It was my first ever baby blanket. I started crocheting up the squares and suddenly couldn't stop. Completely addictive. But sewing in the 322 ends kinda brought me back to reality. I made sure the next blanket didn't have so many. Yep, I'm afraid I have the baby blanket bug now.
I based the size on one in the Stitch'n'Bitch crochet book, Happy Hooker, which was 27 inches square. But I've been asking people who have babies, they reckon 100-110cm is better (about 40inches).
Yeah, the sewing is less fun :) I try to run ends through as much as possible as I go, crocheting over them, and end up with just having to trim them back most of the time.
I think 100cm is a fairly standard size, but you do need smaller ones too, especially for newborns, use in a bassinet etc etc.

I'm surprised it's your first baby blanket!
