So cube life....
SUCKS.
However, there are some parts of the day that make my life bearable working in Dilbert land. For example, getting up to use the copier, getting coffee, and going to the bathroom are definite highlights. Oh, I'm exaggerating a wee bit, but still - cube life is it's own subculture. Many of my coworkers are pretty cool and have gotten used to my unconventional nature. I also skip out on the office politics for the most part since I'm just here for the summer. Plus - my life will become waaaaay more exciting once Beth and Brittaney start working here. Mia and I already send emails back and forth at least every 30 min to keep a conversation going - add bert and beth to that and I'll be a very happy camper! I bought an Ipod this morning as an impulse buy. I got to work at 7:29 this morning (carpooling with mia can not turn into too regular of a thing that's too damn early for me) and sat for a bit. I was puttsing around online and saw an article at the Washington Post about music that had a picture of an Ipod. So, I went to the apple store and browsed a little bit. I then looked over into my neighbor Laurie's cube and gazed reverently at her Ipod accessories including a nice big pretty sub woofer!!!!!! With the student discount it wasn't too very much - about half a paycheck. It shall arrive in 5 days - with my name engraved on it and everything. I'm soooo excited.
Some of the names I'm foreclosing on are so funny. Yesterday, I sued someone to foreclose on their house for a defaulted mortgage - their last name was Turnipseed. Mwhahaha. There was also someone named Beck - in honor of that I had to put Mutations in my CD player.
The other day I listened to the newer Decembrist album non-stop all day while I checked over 3000 accounts for chapter 13 bankruptcy. I think I heard that album at least 11 times through in it's entireity.
Lunch and breaks are the other highlights. I love it when ppl come and visit me - I get so excited and anticipate it all day. Wow. I'm lame.
A couple Fridays ago - b/4 mia started working here - I was about to impale myself w/my mouse I was so bored. So, I went up to my boss and asked him if I could just leave right then and there - 5 hours early ::Grin:: Instead of telling me "No," he launched into a set of Napoleon Dynamite impersonations. I took that as a yes and hi-tailed it outta there. My boss does get cool points for that.
