Laserbeams sent me a replacement PCMCIA network card for the laptop he had sent me some time ago. Unfortunately, just like when he sent the laptop, my dad is going to go utterly ballistic, knowing him. Also, although I appreciate the thought and really could use a replacement for the one I have (although it works), consulting me before would've made things a little better for me. I'm certainly going to be checking the mail frequently 7 days from now.
On the same day the laptop came in the mail, my dad got the idea of using the fact that I have friends willing to send me stuff to his advantage, and asked (politely, might i add) whether I could offer to pay for products otherwise unattainable in Malta (that's where I live, for those who're on the moon :P) in return for sending them over to us here. I thought it was an excellent idea, but since then nothing has materialised. This can mainly be blamed on the fact that neither laser nor my dad trust one another. I trust them both but I'm still scared about what will happen if things go awry. Also, the money plays a crucial role. Other than the fact that laser's been short of it since the day I asked him for the favour, both my dad and laser don't want to end up on the short end of the bargain. laser wants the money, my dad wants the products. End of story. Unfortunately, the distance makes things more complicated than that. My dad won't know whether he should pay up until the products have arrived, and laser won't know if my dad will pay up when they do.
And I, being in the middle, am not gaining any enjoyment out of this. Not one goddamn bit.
