Title: Fireworks and Colds
Rating: G
Pairing/Focus: Jonghyun/Luna (Jonghyun-centric), a bit SHINee/Jonghyun because I'm cool like that
Summary: He didn't turn and face her and talk to her directly because he didn't want her seeing him so vulnerable (so damn weak).
A/N: I literally wrote this in 10 minutes. Hahaha. Actually, I typed it in my phone, then re-typed it again. ^^ I kind of got the idea when I saw
this video of Jonghyun and I immediately felt like I had to just write because it was stuck in my head and Jonghyun please stop being like that. Get well soon. :( :( :( Anyway, pretty short. Didn't have much time to edit the thing. Like I said, 10 minutes. XDD So, enjoy. :)
He coughs and coughs and coughs till he feels like his whole throat is going to go out of his mouth. Fireworks and colds do not mix very well, proven fact.
Key tried talking some sense into him. Or rather, grabbed his vest and shook him with a smile, waking him up from his trance. He hadn't been feeling that well, and apparently now the whole of South Korea knows since he merely just gave himself away with that Hello performance.
Minho tried helping, asking for water and giving pep talk and all that, but it didn't work. Instead, he just swallowed hard, threw the freakin' water bottle away (he didn't even bother opening it) and went on with the choreography.
Taemin tried to save what he could. Everyone knows in SHINee performance talks, Jonghyun just can't keep his mouth shut. But since his mouth was too busy coughing out his entire being, the younger boy knew he had to cover for his hyung. He just dove in and talked and tried to look as cheerful as ever (and did everything to try to assure everyone that everything is okay, even though it clearly isn't).
Onew threw a fit right after their performance. Not because he was the bad guy telling Jonghyun that he shouldn't have looked so beat up on stage. Nope, he got mad at him because he still pushed through even though he couldn't take it anymore. He still sang and danced and went on with being idol Jonghyun even though he was already so weak. Onew yelled and screamed and shouted at him to, "Stop straining yourself, Jonghyun! It's not good for you. Your condition could get worse," and he saw the concern in his eyes. Jonghyun thanked the heavens that they gave them Lee Jinki. He truly was the best leader.
"Oppa?"
Luna.
"Yes, Luna-ssi?"
"Everything alright?"
He cracked at her words.
"Does it look like everything is alright?"
He didn't turn and face her and talk to her directly because he didn't want her seeing him so vulnerable (so damn weak). He sighs instead.
"Luna.. sorry for being a mean sunbae, but obviously everything isn't alright. Didn't you just see me on stage? Didn't you hear Jinki-hyung literally scream hell at me? No, Luna-ssi, everything is not-”
His tears get caught in his eyes before they fall and his heart skips a beat (or a few).
"Please be okay, Jonghyun-oppa. It hurts me to see you so tired,"
Park Sunyoung (the Sunyoung he actually knows. Not Luna. Sunyoung was different) was hugging him from behind, hands tight around his waist (not wanting to let go).
He couldn't breathe (not from the hug) because she was there and she just showed him that she cares so much and-
"I'm sorry,"
"Wait, what? Why?"
Isn't he supposed to be the one to say that?
"I can't do anything but hug you, I'm sorry. I don't know what to do in situations like these,"
He laughs and turns around and takes her face in his hands. Sure he wasn't as tall as tower Minho, or giant baby Sulli, or long legs Sooyoung, but nevertheless, she was still probably a hand shorter.
"It's enough, Sunyoung, more than enough," he envelopes her in his arms and assures her that everything is going to be okay.
That's he going to be okay, for Jinki, for the whole SHINee, for their fans and especially for her.
