So...yeah... the other day when I was all like, "I'm not spending $300 for a bike, blah blah blah...."
Weeeeeeeeeeelllllllllll......
Hah. Let's just say that I'm definitely racking up the SkyMiles. Thanks, Amex! Of course, you need like 36,000 miles for a ticket anyhow, so I won't be getting a free ticket anytime soon.
But I have a pretty new bike! =D
And I get lifetime free tune-ups and whatnot. And it won't fall apart on me like the ones I tried out at Wal-mart. I did some more bike research and it's just safer, given the amount of riding I'll be doing, to invest in a better bike. I was considering getting a MacBook for grad school...or an Iphone just for fun, but I weighed all the pros and cons and... well, the bike won out. The Iphone would be a pretty unnecessary purchase... the Macbook is way more computer than I need for taking notes and writing papers... whereas the bike... the bike is a.)eco-friendly transportation, b.) exercise, and c.) FUN! OMG, it was so much fun whizzing around on it... I forgot what it was like to have the wind rushing past as you go flying down the street, pedaling faster and faster until your legs get all wobbly and your quads are burning. It took me a few nervous starts to get comfortable on it, but I got the hang of it and off I went. We have this exercise path in front of my house that goes all the way to Stone Mountain, but I'm not up for that long haul yet. I do hope to get in good enough shape to go for 10-20 mile rides. We're only 5.5 miles from Georgia State's campus, and we don't plan on moving more than 6-mile radius from downtown, so hopefully I'll be able to bike to and from school in fair-weather days. That would be awesome, I wouldn't even have to get on MARTA.
I do need to put myself on a strict payment plan to pay it off, since I put it on my credit card (something I rarely do!)... but I'm happy with the bike and I'm looking forward to lots of fun riding. And yes, I also got a helmet and an tire pump so that I can be a safe little cyclist. Now I just need to read up on Georgia's bike laws.
money matters,
exercise,
happy stuff
