I have brown hair and brown eyes and I love most things Asian.  I also love elbow skin.  And languages.  And chocolate.  I was raised in a household with a mom and a dad, and later on we were joined by a brother and a dog.  I am a morning person.  I love a lot.  A lot of people, a lot of places, and lot of things.  I love love!  I like to make ( Read more... )

Omg, I've been thinking about this kind of stuff so much recently... I was born in the United States, but my family are all German, supposedly. However, they all have auburn hair and green eyes, whereas my dad and I have dark hair and dark eyes and olive skin. And my dad's name is Maples, which is an English name. We don't know a lot about his father, because his dad died when he was six, but clearly through all those Germans that one line of Englishness persisted, and that's how I got my name. I guess.

On the other side, my mother was born in a part of Germany that has at times been part of Poland, and it just recently came out that her parents may have been Polish or even Estonian. My mom was a kid during the second world war, and she was told by her family to tell everyone that she was German. It was only later that I inquired about the fact she said her mother had a heavy Balkan accent. They always told everyone they were German, probably for safety reasons, but they may not have been.

Then I start wondering even more about the dark eyes and olive skin... when we get as far east as the Balkans, that's where you're starting to mix with Turkistani people... is it possible I'm one of them somehow? Also, I have no body hair, which everyone always tells me is a Native American trait. There are no Native Americans in my family that I know of, but if we work back from the theory that Native Americans are Turks, well... I'm really intrigued.

I'm not sure if it's possible for me to ever get any answers, but like you, I don't feel I have to have them to be a complete person.
