The silence in the office was almost too hard to bear for the poor drummer.
‘Oh god, why isn’t anyone saying anything?! I never should have told them anything. They’ll think I’m stupid or weird now.”
“What the hell, Kai?! Why are you staying with him?”
Being the first to break the silence, Ruki stared at his band mate in disbelief. Had he heard him right? Had the drummer really said he was going to live with that crazy vocalist?
Reita’s mind was speeding a thousand miles a minute. Why would Kai stay with that weirdo? He could have gotten his own apartment if he really wanted to move out that badly…or he could just ask one of the other members for a temporary place to stay.
“Kai….are you serious? You’re going to be staying with Miyavi?” Reita asked in a calm voice, hoping to not startle the already flustered drummer.
“Y-yeah, I’m going to be staying with him. I’ve already called him and he said he would pick me after practice, so…” Kai looked up to see the stunned, disbelieving faces of his band mates. “I’m sorry, I knew I should’ve told you before, but I just-“
“Hell yeah, you should’ve told us before, you moron!” Uruha cut Kai off, once again. “Besides when did you start hanging out with the weirdo anyway? Must’ve been for a long time for you to consider moving in with him.”
Sighing in annoyance, Reita turned glaring at the lead guitarist “Seriously Kouyou! Will you shut up and let Kai talk?!”
“Fine,” Uruha grumbled, sitting down next to a very amused looking Aoi.
“Uru, I believe you just lost that fight.” Aoi smirked, putting his arm around his sulky lover.
“Eh?! What are you talking about? Why are you on Reita’s side?! Who said I lost that fight? I didn’t lose any-!” the honey blond was cut off with a stern look from Aoi.
“Yeah okay, but it’s kind of rude when you interrupt people like that,” he said, staring at the honey blond.
“But Aoiiiiiiiii!” Uruha whined, crossing his arms and making a ducky pout. “Reita’s being more of a senile ass than usual!”
At that Ruki, who was already trying hard to stifle his giggles, burst out laughing. Even poor Kai, whose face was flushed a deep crimson red, had to smile at the sight of their honey blond guitarist’s pouting face.
“Oh, you!! Who do you think you’re calling senile?!” Reita huffed and opened his mouth to say more, but was cut off from the commanding, but amused, stare of Aoi.
“Uruha, dear, it’s not nice to call your best friend old,” Aoi said, reaching out to stroke Uruha’s cheek, who stayed silent, eyes wide, staring at Aoi. “And besides you’re the same age he is, so if he’s old, wouldn’t you be calling yourself old as well? You wouldn’t want that now, would you?” Uruha shook his head, still staring into those entrancing charcoal eyes. “Now tell Reita you’re sorry for calling him a senile ass.“ At that Uruha started to pout but before he could say a word Aoi continued, “If you say sorry I’ll let you have a present when we get back home tonight.” Aoi smirked seeing the shining eyes of his lover.
“A present?!” Uruha squealed in happiness. “Yay!!” Giggling, he turned to a very annoyed Reita, “I’m sorry, Reita-chan! You’re not crazy nor are you an ass. And you’re not old either, because then I would be old as well.”
Sighing, Reita turned around in his seat. It was both amusing and irritating how airheaded his honey blond friend could be. Facing Kai once again, he looked at the drummer with curiosity. “Come on now, Kai. Just spill why you’re staying with him.” Ruki who was strangely quiet through most of this conservation stood up and walked right next to Kai.
“It’s okay, Kai-chan. You can tell us. I’m sure you have a good enough reason for staying with him,” Ruki smiled assuredly to the drummer, who flashed his ever so famous dimpled smile at the short blond.
“Well you see, Miyavi and I have been going out for the past year,” Kai said rather quietly, his gaze shifting towards Reita as he finished his sentence.
“EH?!?!” Three pairs of high squeaked voices shot through the manager’s office.
Reita looked at his friend in shock, “What? For how long? How come I never knew about this?”
“Well we got together at the New Year’s Party and we’ve been seeing each other ever since. And you didn’t know because we wanted to keep a secret until we felt it was the right time to tell you guys,” Kai said looking at each of his band mates, “You know, he’s not really as bad as you all think.”
“Pfffft, as if!! You sure he’s not blackmailing you or anything?” Uruha asked.
“I don’t think Kai-kun minds that much,” Aoi replied, smirking. All eyes, including Kai’s wide ones, turned towards the dark haired guitarist.
“What are you talking about?” Reita and Ruki said simultaneously, voices laced with curiosity.
“Well, I saw our sweet little Kai-chan making out Miyavi last month during break. And from what I saw... and heard, I don’t think Kai-chan minds living with him,” Aoi smirked at the drummer’s dumbfounded face.
“Y-you h-how…wha-wha-what…huh?” Kai’s mouth opened and closed like a fish.
Ruki laughed, clapping the drummer on his back, “Ne, Kai-kun, I didn’t know you had it in you,” he said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Well, now that the cat’s out of the bag…” Uruha said quietly. “Should we move on with things? I really want to go home now.”
Reita who had been staring silently at Kai the whole time, remembered that they were in the presence of one very annoyed manager. “Oh. Sakai-san, sorry about that!”
“Yes. Gomen ne, Sakai-san,” four other voices chirped.
“Okay then, I need to know if Reita will be staying at Aoi's house or at Ruki's. So, who's it going to be?”
Reita looked around the room. He knew Kai was out of the question and he’d prefer not to stay at Aoi’s and Uruha’s. This left him with either Ruki’s or finding a hotel close to work. He looked at the blond chibi, but Ruki avoided his gaze and instead turned to Sakai.
“We could play rock, paper, scissors!!”
Uruha squealed, “Ooooh yeah!! That would be fun!”
Reita looked at the two blonds with raised eyebrows. So, they were going to leave the chance of him possibly being homeless to a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors now? Some friends they were.
“Alright, whoever loses is the one that Reita shall stay with until he can find his own apartment. Which might be a while as I heard prices are going up really fast,” Sakai said to the members.
“Okay, Ru-chan, let’s play!” Uruha skipped over to Ruki’s seat.
The short blond looked nervous about something, which made Reita curious since Ruki always had the best luck in games like these.
“We’ll play it just once, alright?” Ruki said, looking up at Uruha.
Getting their arms ready in battle stances they both spoke, “Rock! Paper! Scissors!”
Uruha whined in defeat as he saw Ruki cutting his paper with his ‘scissors’.
Grinning in victory, Ruki yelled out a loud, “Victory!”, punching his fist in the air.
“Gee, Ru, are you really that glad that you don’t have to give me a place to stay?” Reita smirked.
“Nyah,” he pouted, sticking his tongue out childishly at the grinning bassist.
“Well, Rei, looks like you’ll be part of our lovely family from now on,” Aoi chuckled as he saw the horrified look on the dirty blond’s face.
“No thanks, man,” Reita shuddered. “I’ll stick to being a roommate.”
“Well, then since we’ve cleared that matter, I suggest you boys head on to practice,” Sakai sighed, tiredly.
“Will do, sir!! I'll keep them very busy!” Kai chirped, his earlier embarrassment gone and his leader-sama side coming back. “Let’s go guys; we have lots of work to finish up before the deadline!”
He skipped out of the room as the rest of the members trudged behind. They were all thinking the same thing: Today was going to be a long day.
