Chapter 5
Tomorrow is Friday. The day that his pride and ego will be torn and shredded into pieces by a certain bitch named Go Ara.
He can almost imagine the humiliation that he’ll go through in that party and it’s all because of that cruel and unmerciful jerk, Yunho. Just the image of a laughing Ara with an I knew it! expression written all over her face is already making him scream out of frustration.
He couldn't really blame it on Yunho though. After all, they’ve only just met and he’s already asking for a difficult favor. It’s just that, he did save his life right? The least way he could thank him is by helping him with his problem.
Oh well, whatever. He’s only praying that he could come up with a convincing and realistic excuse that will save his ass tomorrow.
“Did you have a good fuck yesterday hyung?” Changmin asked while he watched in amusement as the older guy choke on his coffee.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Yunho glared at his dongsaeng for almost ruining the morning newspaper he’s reading.
“Come on hyung! Tell me who it was! I thought we wouldn’t have any secrets anymore?” He pretended to sulk while trying his hardest not to laugh.
“I really don’t understand what you’re saying. And since when did we have that promise?” Yunho just raised his eyebrow at the weird and childish behavior of his cousin. He’s not always like this in the past. He wonders if his behavior has something to do with him living out of the country.
“Where did you sleep yesterday? Tiffany said that you left your office early because you have something to do. What is that something that made you unable to go home?” Changmin teased, not trying to hide the delight on his face.
Yunho just glared at Changmin. Here he is, trying his damnest to forget the torture he experienced less than 24 hours ago. Why did he have to kiss those lips! It made him crave for more, for something he knew he wouldn’t taste again.
He remembered the favor that Jaejoong asked him. Is he that stupid to let a random guy pretend to be someone like him? Yes, he knows that not all citizen of Korea knows what he looks like but he’s sure that some people have actually seen him in real life. What if someone he knows is in that party and Jae foolishly introduced some guy he picked on the street as him? He will embarrass himself in that party.
Why do you care? You were never worried for anyone before.
I don’t care. And hell if I’m worried. I’m just irritated, that’s all.
Okay Jung, keep telling that to yourself.
His subconscious mind is pissing him off. He decided that he will not see Jaejoong ever again. That gullible guy is dangerous. He’s making Yunho think, do and feel things that he hasn’t ever thought, done and felt before. Of course he doesn’t want that. He’s been composed all of his life and he will not let a pretty boy with enchanting lips ruin it all for him.
“Penny for your thoughts?”
Changmin interrupted Yunho’s inner battle with himself. The older man just glared at him and headed towards the bathroom. A cold shower might help him reprogram his thoughts.
“Hyung, I’m going to a party tomorrow at around seven, you wanna come?”
Yunho stopped walking. How coincidental is it that his cousin’s party is at the same time and date as Jaejoong’s party? Oh wait, he forgot that Changmin is also an architect like Jaejoong. Does that mean the two of them know each other? That might be a possibility since Jaejoong was in the exhibit where Changmin forced him to come.
“You’re not even a professor at CJes University, why are you invited there?”
Changmin confusedly looked at Yunho.
“I didn’t even tell you where the venue is. How did you know that the party would be at CJes U? Is it possible that someone already invited you there?”
“Give me all the details of why the fuck is that motherfucking Jung Yunho suddenly the fiancé of my precious Jaejoongie in the three months of my absence!”
Heechul is fuming. It is very impossible that his innocent angel is suddenly engaged with that king of all demons.
Kim Heechul is the president of the Seoul Daily News. Jaejoong was the most popular student in their university days. Despite their different majors, him in journalism and Jae in architecture, he befriended Jae to increase his popularity. He didn’t expect that they will click so well and will eventually become the best of friends, with him being overly obsessed with Jaejoong.
It’s his fault that Jaejoong doesn’t have a boyfriend today. No, it’s not because he’s jealous. He just thinks that Jaejoong is always too perfect for his suitors. No one’s ever good enough for him. It is a known fact in the whole university that if you want to court Kim Jaejoong, you have to face the criticisms of Kim Heechul first.
The reason why Yunho’s picture isn’t shown in any news is because Yunho is currently blackmailing him. He has Heechul’s neck on his hands. That’s why he was enraged when he found out who Jaejoong’s fiancé is. Last time he talked to his friend, he was spazzing over some guy named Changmin. Why does it have to be Jung Yunho?! That jerk is his mortal enemy!
Jaejoong is already dressed for the party. He keeps on narrating the lies that he has to tell to Ara later.
“Yunnie ate something and he kept on throwing up and is always at the bathroom at every hour.” He kept on repeating that while anxiously pacing back and forth.
Surely Ara will believe that right? No sane person will attend a party if he has a stomachache.
He took a deep breath and headed towards the door.
This is going to be a long night.
Jaejoong arrived at the party a bit late. Good, no sign of Ara yet. And as he is scanning through the room, his eyes spotted someone looking sinfully handsome while talking to the other professors.
Changmin. He didn’t think that seeing him again will make his heart flutter like this. He was slightly thankful that fake Yunho did not come because he doesn’t want Changmin to think that the rumors are true.
He was about to approach his crush when Ara and her two friends walked in front of him.
“Well, well, well! Look who’s dateless tonight...if it isn’t the lying bitch Kim Jaejoong.”
Jaejoong was about to retort when Ara called everyone’s attention.
“Everyone, please gather around to meet the very famous fiancé of our dearest co-professor, Kim Jaejoong.”
Everybody stopped what they’re doing and went towards Jaejoong. They’re really excited to see what the prosecutor look like.
Jaejoong panicked. He practiced what he’s going to tell Ara a hundred times before but he didn’t know that she would call the attention of every person in the room. He can’t lie in front of everyone!
“What’s wrong, Jaejae? Cat got your tongue? Where’s Mr. Jung Yunho, a.k.a. your fiancé?”
Jaejoong glared at the smirking Go Ara. He has no choice but to tell the truth. It’s his fault anyway. He deserves all the humiliation that will follow. This is also to clear the name of the real Jung Yunho. He knows that the prosecutor is very nice because he didn’t file a complaint on him.
Jaejoong closed his eyes and sighed.
“The truth is-”
He was surprised when an arm snaked around his waist and suddenly kissed his cheek.
“Hey honey, sorry I was late.”
Jae stared at the stunning man in front of him with a dumbfounded look on his face.
“Hi, I’m Jung Yunho. Pleased to meet you.” He offered his hands to an equally surprised Go Ara who is as pale as a ghost.
“Ni-ice to meet you too Yunho-ssi. Goodbye.”
She said then walked away from them. She went to the ladies room with her two friends following her.
“Are you sure that it’s the real deal? What if Jaejoong paid that guy to act in front of us?” Seulgi said, trying to comfort her very pale friend.
“But he’s very hot! And he’s emitting an aura of being the true prosecutor. If he is an actor, he is very good!” Jessica said, drooling at the thought of the guy they just saw.
But Ara just stood in front of them like a zombie. She didn’t expect this to happen. Her first and only love was taken away by the person she hated the most.
“What are you doing here?! I thought you wouldn’t come?!”
Jaejoong pulled Yunho at a secluded place once he’s done introducing himself to Jaejoong’s colleagues. He doesn’t know why Jae is angry at him. He helped the unreasonable guy and this is the thanks that he gets?
“I don’t care what kind of a strange mind you have, but aren’t you supposed to be very grateful to me for saving your butt?!” Yunho furiously said but the idiot doesn’t seem to be listening to him and is busy in his own world.
He too is angry at Jaejoong for being so unappreciative. He didn’t even plan on coming and the guy who begged him to come is angry at him for showing up? What kind of a fucked-up situation is that?
No matter how much he denies it, he knows himself the fact that when he saw Jaejoong looking all dressed up like that, he couldn’t help but approach him and let everyone in the room knows that the most gorgeous guy in that party is his.
“What will Changmin think? Nooo! That jerk ruined everything! To think that I can finally explain myself!” Jaejoong unconsciously said out loud.
“What? Did you just say Chang-”
“Hi Jaejoong! Hello Yunho-ssi.”
Great. Jaejoong prayed that Changmin didn’t see any of that but here he is, approaching them with a rather happy expression on his face.
Yunho saw the hurt look on Jaejoong’s face. He has an idea why but he wanted to be sure.
“Nice to meet you Mr...?”
He saw the amusement in Changmin’s face. He will deal with him later. Right now, he wants to confirm something.
“Shim Changmin. Just call me Changmin.”
They shook hands and he glared at the grinning Changmin.
“Don’t you have a date for tonight Changmin-ssi?” Yunho said, noting the surprised look Jaejoong made.
“Oh, I don’t know where Yoochun went. My boyfriend is really a pain in the ass when there are famous people around.”
“Your bo-boyfriend?” Both are surprised when Jaejoong unexpectedly asked.
Yunho clenched his fist at the sight of Jaejoong on the verge of tears. His assumption is now confirmed. Jaejoong likes his cousin and for the first time in his life, he detested himself for being right.
“Pleasant meeting you Changmin-ssi but my fiancé and I have to go somewhere else tonight. Until next time.” Yunho said as he possessively wrapped his arms around Jaejoong’s waist and headed towards the exit.
Jaejoong is very quiet. He’s staring outside the window of the car while Yunho is driving. He doesn’t want to admit it but he is rather worried with Jaejoong being like this. He thought that once he got the man out of the place, he’ll start crying. That’ll be much better than this unusually quiet Jae.
“Aren’t you even going to ask where I’m taking you?”
It’s like he didn’t even hear what he said and continued on ignoring him. He doesn’t know how to comfort someone. What he’s good at is making someone cry especially when he is at the court. But comforting? If that is a subject, he knows he’ll fail right away.
“For all you know, I might be a killer, or a rapist, or some kind of a sick criminal that will sell your body parts to-”
Jaejoong finally looked at him with a horror stricken face. So much for comforting someone. But at least he got a reaction from the other guy.
Yunho chuckled. “I’m kidding! It’s because you look like somebody died or something.”
“Something did die, it’s my heart.”
Yunho would normally snort and roll his eyes at that cheesy comment but he can’t do so. It was like it’s his heart that is currently being murdered.
Jaejoong sighed. “Okay, Mr. rapist-slash-killer, where are you taking me?”
Yunho stopped and went out of the car. He sat at one of the big rocks outside and patted it, signaling Jaejoong to sit with him.
Jaejoong also went out and walked towards Yunho. They’re currently at some kind of a hill that has the view of the whole Seoul city like it was just a painting.
“Why did you bring me here?”
“Whenever I am in a bad mood, I go up here to clear my thoughts. It seems that you kind of need to clear yours right now.”
Yunho is really full of surprises. Most of the time he’s a jerk, but then he’ll do something like this that makes Jaejoong actually thinks that he can be sweet.
“What makes you think I’m upset? I’m not so let’s go home.”
Jaejoong headed towards the car, as much as he appreciates Yunho’s kindness, he’d rather be alone at this moment.
“You like Changmin don’t you?”
That made Jaejoong stopped on his tracks. He is trying very hard not to think about it but Yunho seems to enjoy rubbing salt on his wound.
Jaejoong closed his eyes and inhaled. “I don’t, now let’s go.”
“It’s rather obvious you know, you look like you’re going to cry when he told you that he already has a~”
“So what if I do! Yes! I do like him! A lot! But does it matter? He already has someone! You can laugh at me but can you please do it some other time?! Right now I-”
Jaejoong was startled when he found himself in the arms of the taller man. He struggled for a bit but the other just tightened his hold. He stopped resisting and couldn’t help but release all of the tears he’s been holding back from the moment Changmin said he has someone.
“I like him very much.” Jaejoong repeated over and over again while Yunho stroke his hair, kiss his temple and rubs his back.
Changmin and Yunho always excel in whatever they do and they always want different things. His sport is basketball, Changmin is tennis. His talent is playing the piano, Changmin is playing the violin. He is a prosecutor, and Changmin is an architect. They never have to compete for anything even though they both excel in everything.
It's the first time ever in his life that he felt so envious of his cousin.
